…O my Jesus, how very easy it is to become holy; all that is needed is a little good will. If Jesus sees this little bit of good will in the soul, He hurries to give Himself to the soul and nothing can stop Him, neither shortcomings nor falls – absolutely nothing. Jesus is anxious to help that soul and if it is faithful to this grace from God, it can very soon attain the highest holiness possible for a creature here on earth. God is very generous and does not deny His grace to anyone. Indeed He gives more than what we ask of Him. Faithfulness to the inspirations of the Holy Spirit – that is the shortest route. (paragraph 291)

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

The quote above was posted in a thread entitled “More from St. Faustina on becoming holy” Dec. 28, 2015. I decided to post her words again today because they reminded me of something I just posted concerning perseverance in prayer, and our cooperation with God’s Grace. Perhaps the Holy Spirit is urging us all to hear St. Faustina’s words again.

St. Faustina encourages us to believe Jesus is anxious to help the soul with a “little good will”! She writes (from experience):

He hurries to give Himself to that soul and nothing can stop Him – absolutely nothing. Jesus is anxious to help that soul and if it is faithful to this grace from God, it can very soon attain the highest holiness possible to a creature on earth… Faithfulness to the Holy Spirit – that is the shortest route.

Perseverance and faithfulness in even “a little good will” does not come cheap! Yet St. Faustina encourages us further:

Great love can change small things into great ones and it is only love which lends value to our actions. And the purer our love becomes, the less there will be for the flames of suffering to feed upon, and the suffering will cease to be suffering for us; it will become a delight…(paragraph 303)

Jesus Meek and Humble of Heart, make our hearts like Yours! Purify us in Your Love. as we place our trust in You.
Mary, our Mother and Model, help us to love as you did, with ALL our hearts, minds, souls and strength.
Come, Holy Spirit, enlighten us to know God’s Will and keep us faithful to You, always.

It has been a blessing for me to be re-reading the Diary - Divine Mercy In My Sou by St. Faustina, during this Year of Mercy. I’m really happy to share what I’ve read and hope others will be blessed by her words.

The importance of the Holy Spirit in our spiritual lives has been growing in my own life, as I continue to hear Jesus’ words from the Cross: “Behold Your Mother”. Mary is our Mother and Model and her unique union with the Holy Spirit in the Incarnation of the Son becomes more and more obvious as I ponder the Scripture. Her Sanctification, like ours, is a unique work of God and her faithfulness to His Word and the power of His Spirit is seen throughout the Gospels.

Her humble heart was ever-open to receive Him and to say “Yes” to all His asked of her . By God’s Grace, may we, like St. Faustina and all the saints, continue to find in our Mother the perfect disciple of Jesus, whom each of us is called to be!
