When it’s said in the Nicene Creed that Jesus will come again to judge the living and the dead, what does that mean exactly? I thought when you died you were judged right then and either sent to heaven, hell or purgatory. Sorry to ask such a dumb question.

Particular judgement of the soul happens at time of death and the final judgement, which outcome was previously determined at the time of the resurrection when soul is united with a new glorified body.

Read the section of the Catechism entitled, “He will come to judge the living and the dead.”

It’s a reference to the end of time. At Christ’s second coming, there will still be people living on the earth. Both they, and those who have already passed away, will be judged by Christ at that time.
