Jesus lives in Heaven?

JESUS LIVES IN HEAVEN?

What does it mean for Jesus to “come down from heaven” (John 3:13; 6:62; Ephesians 4:10). For if Jesus is God, and God is omnipresent, then Jesus is everywhere and doesn’t just hang out in Heaven like the pagan gods did.

Why does the Bible speak of Jesus coming down from Heaven (also, as we profess at every Mass, “He ascended into heaven”) - as if that were is home or specific dwelling place?

John 3:13 No one has gone up to heaven except the one who has come down from heaven, the Son of Man.

God created both the Universe and Heaven. He didn’t create Heaven to “move into” it. When I read these verses (e.g., John 3:13), it sometimes reminds me of how the Roman pagans thought of their gods - they dwelt in heaven (but they didn’t create it).

Please help me with this one…

God the son (Jesus) is in heaven. He is seated at the right hand of the father. God as the trinity, father, son, and holy spirit, is omnipresent.

(Here is the faith part.) Because of this omnipresence of God, God the son (Jesus) exists entirely in the eucharist. All the while being still at the right hand of the father.

God came down from heaven, by the power of the Holy Spirit he was born of the Virgin mary and became man. On the 3rd day he rose again in fullfillment of the scriptures. He ascended into heaven.

Basically you answered your own question. He is omnipresent, so he is everywhere in all forms, heaven and earth.

That He came down from heaven means He came as a
baby here on earth. He experienced physical humanity.
Yes I agree it is hard to imagine Jesus as One with God,
like it says in John 1:1.

p.s. – pagan gods didn’t hang out in heaven, they aren’t real!

But still: God the Son became man at a certain point in our history. Before the Incarnation, he wasn’t the God-man. He didn’t have a human nature. And yet these passages say that he “came down from Heaven” - as if it were his only dwelling place, home, etc.

I don’t understand.

I know that it is complicated when we try to reason how Yahweh God is supposed to be or act… the major problem is that we are finite and we reason from our finite understanding…

God determined to reveal Himself in various stages and through various means… in the Old Testament He is revealed as the Creator, the Lord, the Savior, and the God of Israel (amongst other ways); we can see types of the Holy Spirit, the Trinity, and Jesus throughout the Old Testament, but it is not until the fullness of times (God’s timetable) that God introduces Himself as Jesus, and, as Jesus, He reveals the Holy Spirit.

Each Person of God is both an individual and the Oneness of God–it is something to be accepted through Faith nor reason since our reason cannot comprehend the Singularity and Omnipotence of God.

You are correct, before the Word became Incarnate He did not just exist in Heaven:

9 The Word was the real light that gives light to everyone; he was coming into the world. 10 He was in the world that had come into being through him, and the world did not recognise him. 11 He came to his own and his own people did not accept him. 12 But to those who did accept him he gave power to become children of God, to those who believed in his name
13 who were born not from human stock or human desire or human will but from God himself. 14 The Word became flesh, he lived among us, and we saw his glory, the glory that he has from the Father as only Son of the Father, full of grace and truth. (St. John 1:9-14–NJB)

This passage is charged with time within time… Christ, the Word, was the Light, which gives Life; He was coming to the world which was Created by Him; He was in the world and was not recognized; He came to His own (Israel) but was not accepted and He gave power to all who Believed in His Name (all Christians, from Jesus’ contemporaries to the final days right before the Parousia) to become children of God; this passage demonstrates that old title “I Am” which Yahweh gave to Moses and Jesus revealed to His disciples: God is, time does not confine Him.
