I’m having trouble understanding what this means, its part of a Protestant statement of faith found on a site my friend sent.

“Because we believe Jesus died in our place and rose from the dead to live His life through anyone who will trust Him, we want to spend the rest of our lives letting others see that what He has done for us, He can do for them.”

What does it meant by “Jesus died in our place and rose from the dead to live His life through anyone who will trust Him”?

Is there is a name for this belief?

Thanks

Perhaps “Incarnational theology”? I believe some saints have stated something to the effect…“we are the only hands with which he has to reach out to others…we are the only feet he has to go where there is need…we are the only voice he has to offer comfort.” This is not an exact quote of course…but I do agree with the statemnet…we are 'to live His life…"

Angel Hazard asked about a statement attributed to a Protestant web site: *What does it meant by “Jesus died in our place and rose from the dead to live His life through anyone who will trust Him”?

I don’t know if this has a name, but perhaps someone more versed in theology or one of our Protestant members can enlighten us.

My take is that the statement is trying to convey the idea that Jesus died for us and now lives through the Resurrection, and that He lives within us. He is not somewhere in a distant heaven but right here, within his church, the people of God. Perhaps if we restated that last part to "and lives within all those who believe in Him and follow Him" that would make the meaning clearer.

Many times I have heard it said: “We must be Christ to others.” That may be the meaning of the latter part of the quote: **“we want to spend the rest of our lives letting others see that what He has done for us, He can do for them.” **(with the emphasis added to the word “that”). To me, this is saying if we are true followers of Christ, we must proclaim Him to others, and be an example to others of what a Christian is.

I agree it does sound strange at first reading, but it may be a result of how it is written, not because it has an unorthodox meaning. It would be interesting to know from what denomination it came. Keep in mind that many Protestant churches are “independent” and have their own websites, which contain statements of their beliefs and practices. That statement could have been written by someone (Pastor or otherwise) for that particular congregation’s site.

Again, maybe someone else can shed light on it.
