True. But the scribes and the elders were on a pretty sticky situation. They had to maintain a good relationship with their colonial masters and at the same time try to keep the people in check. So if I were their position, to be honest, I wouldn’t necessarily be too happy about an upstart from Galilee. I’m not justifying what they did to Him however.ISTM that anger would be expected living in a nation under conquest, and conquered by the paganism they hated.
Fifty or more years old would seem to be the expected age, because that was the age of wisdom; as they said to our LORD, “you are not yet **fifty **years old…”
I guess I’m just thinking out loud that old and angry need not seem unsympathetic.
