Magnificent mural!
Yeah, I found the website while trying to prove to a protestant that Catholic Church does not have a rule, demanding Jesus and biblical persons being portrayed only White.

Like you, I to am fascinated by the different depictions of Christ and biblical persons, that you can find in any culture.

I always believed though, that its not what Jesus looked like, or any biblical person looked like, but what they did and who they were. Surely a Black Jesus would not matter to me, because our salvation didn’t come from his skin color. 🙂

Although I’m not Catholic anymore, I’ll always be Eskimo and will always love the image of Our Lady of the Snows. If I could figure out how to download pictures, I’d attach one. I love how Jesus and Mary are portrayed so beautifully in the Catholic Church.
I never herd of Our Lady of the Snows, but I found an icon of her, and will post it.

Here is Christ of Divine Mercy, with St. Faustina.

And the Christ Child

I found all of these Icons, along with prayers here, puffin.creighton.edu/jesuit/andre/index.html

Well those are the images we’re comfortable with but no He couldn’t have been…
Personally I’m not interested in knowing what Jesus actually looked like. That’s not the point.

But he most certainly could have been White. There were more than enough White people in those areas in Jesus’ time period. Plenty. It’s definitely possible.

Well, it’s the point of the thread, hehe

The sun was very very very hot. I mean this is was scientists say the Israelites looked like around Jesus’ time. But I dunno 🤷

White?

Certainly, it is possible that cases of albinism occurred within the lineage of King David. But come on, don’t you think Saint Paul would have mentioned something to the Gentiles if Jesus looked like Johnny Winter?

I think that Jesus would obviously have looked like every other human in that area. Darker skinned with darker hair and dark eyes. However, because I am white, raised in a predominately white parish, whenever I picture Him, I see Him as a white man. It doesn’t matter how you picture Him. He’s the Son of God no matter what his skin color was. I have seen some beautiful artwork portraying Him as black, asian, native american. It doesn’t matter.

The black Israelites are so racist. But anyway…

Jesus was definitely caucasian, and no one can deny that without denying genetic proof that is available to us just by opening our eyes and seeing the current population of the area. It’s like asking if your grandmother, who may have been born in Ireland, was white and then try to disprove her skin colour because someone drew her in their own image, despite the fact that the majority of Ireland are white and your entire family are caucasian. It’s as dumb as saying that the Irish are non-whites, as have been proposed by Protestant Americans since the Irish Catholics touched American soil.

Morgan, the current population of Jews in Israel has been displaced for nearly 2000 years. They lived mostly in Europe and some in America before coming back to Israel when the state was reestablished in the 1940s. There is definitely a lot of interbreeding there from Europeans. So to say that to take it from the current population of Jews in Israel is not accurate.

Mary and her ancestry would have looked like more of the Palestinians, Turks and other locals in the area who today are Muslims. These people have more or less lived in the same area for the last 2000 years.

But the current peoples of the middle east still resemble the original population. Ibm including Arabs, Jews and Palestinians. I am fully aware of the displacement, but like I said, I am talking about the middle east/Mediterranean coast as a whole.

Visionaries I have read about who have had apparitions of Jeshua usually report that his skin’s color is not specific…impossible to describe or pin down…as if it combines all the skin colors we see of all the people in this world into one. That sure makes sense, if so.
I think this makes a lot of sense. By having a nondescript skin colour no one could put Him in any racial category and He can appeal to everyone regardless of race.

I shiver when I hear that name. Nobody I hate more the Black Israelites and the Christian nazi groups. They all can go to hell.

Ps, I never herd anyone say Irish are non-white. Is this really said by some?

They are not white/Caucasian. Though a number of them have fair/light skin tones, they are not Caucasian.

Are there not three main racial groups? Negroid, Caucasoid, and Mongoloid (Asiatic)? No matter their skin tone, Semites (Jews, Arabs, etc.) are caucasoid, I think. Maybe sociologists/anthropologists have changed the categories.

In HIS natural body, we really can’t know. Yes, HE was middle eastern, but even today there are light-skinned Arabs and others in the Mideast (not just Euro-Israelis).

His natural body probably had a bronzed skin, such as we now see in MX and the US Southwest (same latitude).

It doesn’t much matter, as we will see HIS pneumatikon soma, which Saint John described as luminous, anyhow:)🙂

ICXC NIKA.

There have been European people in those areas for centuries. Both in the Middle East and in North Africa. Among the Persians, as well. Take a look at any statue of Persian monarchs. It’s amazing how European they look.

There were certainly Whites in Egypt. DNA testing has shown that Ramses had red hair, and that Tut had European features as well. So why would it be so unthinkable for there to have been people in Palestine that had fair skin and lighter hair? We know there have been Africans there, from biblical accounts. Given that the area had contact with Europe centuries before Jesus was even born, why does it seem so radical to you?

And why would Paul have mentioned it?

I’m not saying that Jesus looked like Sven from Sweden. But what I’m saying is that the possibility of him having European features is there. And it’s not a crazy one.
