what exactly is the messiahs star or what where the magi looking for? Anything in the OT that talks about a star?

I actually went to a good religious talk just a couple weeks ago about what the star could of actually been by a religious astronomer at a planetarium.

Without going into all the science and historical and theological data that came to his conclusion, he said that he believes and many do as well in the academic sphere, that the star actually wasn’t a star but instead was the convergence of two planets together at the same which would create brilliantly blinding light much like a star.

There are two planets that smashed together in 3BC according to scientific and historical data and evidence. By tracing when the census of Judea took place (one in 3BC and one in 1BC) as well as the reign of Tiberius Caesar, this all overlaps with the 3BC collision of these planets.

Hope I could help explain this, I don’t know the exact scientific data behind it but that is the basis, all of these Biblical references can be tied to different scientific data and star charts. It really was a great talk 😃

are you talking about the documentary star of Bethlehem? and I think he was saying how its part of a constellation virgo the virgin.

Part of the talk included this 40 minute documentary which was designed to be seen in a Planetarium. I really highly recommend it, it’s very religiously based. I’m planning on attending this again next year as the planetarium I went to will offer it again next year because it was so well received

I doubt it was a real star or comet or the like. Because then everyone would be able to see it. Herod was by all indications a smart guy so the first thing he would do upon meeting the Magi is go to the roof of the Temple with the High priest and others to scrutinize the sky. He didn’t see the star so must have concluded these guys are deluded but just in case go to Bethlehem and let me know. So it was something ordained by supernatural intervention imo.

There is a very good documentary about a guy who figured out the whole Star of Bethlehem mystery. He has given talks about it all over the world. The link to his video is The Star of Bethlehem.

I think it was probably a miraculous occurrence. If the sun can move around the sky in front of 10’s of thousands of people at Fatima, then why not a star appearing to a few Maji?

Well, the Creator of the universe has the power and imagination to do what is needed for the salvation of the people He created. Since people are given a free will to do good or evil, sometimes the message has to be enormous and clear in what to do.

Perhaps there was no star at all; perhaps it was the manifestation of the Holy Spirit, that at the time, could only be explained as a star; just as the Holy Spirit leading the Israelites through the wilderness appeared as a cloud or column of smoke by day, and a column of fire by night, but may not have been either, but merely something man could understand.
