Jesus to Sr. Menendez: If you bathe your work of no value with the Blood of Christ, it will become more profitable for souls

Sister Josefa Menéndez (1890-1923) reported that she heard Jesus Christ tell her: "When you awake, enter at once into My Heart, and when you are in it, offer My Father all your actions united to the pulsations of My Heart . . . If [a person is] engaged in work of no value in itself, if she bathes it in My Blood or unites it to the work I Myself did during My mortal life, it will greatly profit souls . . . more, perhaps, than if she had preached to the whole world. You will be able to save many souls that way."

Like if I am playing basketball, can I bathe it with the Blood of Christ and it will become profitable for souls too?

How about walking in a mall, can that be offered too?

I don’t know this Sister Josefa Menendez.

But one of the principles of Catholicism (and Judaism, for that matter) is that we have been consecrated to God (Catholics do it through rebirth in Baptism), and that our whole life is offered to God.

When you go to Mass, you say, “We lift up our hearts to the Lord,” and that means your whole life is lifted up to Him as an offering. Your body is a Temple of the Holy Spirit, and a temple is where you make offerings. So whatever you do (if you’re not doing evil), you offer it up to Him.

Similarly, you remember how Paul said we should “Pray always.” That doesn’t mean you always say prayers; it means you try to make your life a prayer as well as making prayer part of your life.

So yes, you offer up being patient with sufferings and annoyances, but you also offer up playing basketball as well as you can. (And you’d better not cheat or play dirty, if you’re going to offer it up!) You offer up walking in the mall. (And maybe that helps you to be more courteous, or to be ready to help that little old lady who dropped her packages.) If you sin, offer Christ your repentance for messing up part of your offering.

So yep, offer everything up. Your life came from Christ. If you believe in Christ and belong to Him, so it’s perfectly proper to offer His gift back to Him.

“Bathe it in the blood of Christ” is an expression associated with devotion to the Precious Blood of Christ, but that’s what she’s talking about.

UPDATE: I looked up Sr. Menendez, and she wrote a book called The Way of Divine Love. It has a Nihil Obstat, an Imprimatur, and a good reputation as a Catholic classic. She has a sainthood cause from her diocese but nothing’s happened on it yet. So Pythagoras, I see that you’re reading some good stuff!

Yes it is a good book Mintaka. It is like a precursor to the Divine Mercy of Jesus because it talks of the great mercy of our Lord.
