PLease read the entire thread for yourself. I’m not rehashing it because you’re jumping in after it’s concluded to argue a point that’s already been made.
I have read the thread myself. Suffice it say; Matthew 18 says nothing about the Keys, isn’t that right? You infer the keys yourself and in fact, interpret Matt 18 as if the word “keys” is there, when it’s not, correct? .
Matthew 16 finds that (1.) Christ changes Simon’s name to Rock, (2.) Christ says he will build His Church on the that Rock. Gee… what a coincidence - Simon gets his name changed to Rock and in the very same sentence Christ builds his Church on the Rock. Up until that time, history records no other person being named Rock. The OT tells us that name changes are momentous things and portend authority and grace for those recieve them. (3.) Finally, like Eliakim, who received real, tangible authority, which set him apart from the other ministers in Isaiah 22, Peter recieves the “KEYS to the Kingdom” . To interpret this passage, with your assumptions, you would have to change Matt 16 to include all the apostles or change Matt 18 to include the “Keys”. Either way, you would have to change scripture to comport with your bias.
Deal with it…Matt 18 DOES NOT have the term “KEYS”. Christ didn’t make a mistake and knew full well what he was doing when he gave the “Keys” to the Peter and only to Peter.
