I have often wondered in awe when reading the Bible and the occassions of JESUS teaching and interacting with the people. HIS words, HIS miracles, HIS presence and HIS desire to move to the next town and keep HIS mercy and grace flowing to as many people as HE could reach. And HIS impact was so great that crowds ignored hunger and shelter to follow HIM. And when word spread that HE was in town, they showed up with sick friends and family and literally tore the roof off homes to gain access to HIM. When JESUS walked the earth HIS presence was so strong, so exhilarating that people forgot themselves to be in HIS presence.
Today, through HIS mercy and grace, HE has actually improved upon those Biblical times. Today we can consume JESUS and place HIS presence within our bodies - twice each day. We can hear HIS words, learn of HIS miracles, be in HIS presence - and actually consume HIM.
How many of us are “followers of JESUS”, actually following HIM to the next Mass. Maybe staying in our seats as a new Mass will be starting soon, or going to a nearby church which will have a Mass very shortly? If we can consume HIM twice, is that not such a great gift of charity from GOD as to be pursued and desired? As to forget ourselves and leave our hunger and enertainment activities for a little while longer to consume HIM twice?
I realize the constraints of family life and the limits it creates by necessity for the children, but for those without such demands, do we truly understand the grace we are leaving behind when we do not choose JESUS twice on the Sabbath?
Think about this, why would you not tear the roof off of your Sabbath to be in HIS presence as often as possible? You have more time with your savior, more conversation with HIM, more petitions when HE is raised at the consecration and HE can rest inside of you twice - it is wonder and joy.
And tomorrow is MERCY SUNDAY - such a Sabbath to consume JESUS twice, if there ever was one.
