Let us look at Luke 6:40 from my N.I.V. Bible “A student is not above his teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like his teacher.”

Let us look at Luke 6:40 from my N.I.V. Bible “A student is not above his teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like his teacher.”
Where does this say “Muslim”?

“Ein talmeed na’leh 'al rabbo; shekken kal adam she’MUSHLAM yihyeh k’rabbo.”

Taken from the Aramaic bible society.

This is further proved by the Arabic translation:

Let us look at what Jesus said in Luke 6:40 in the language of Aramaic translated into Hebrew as shown below:

“Ein talmeed na’leh 'al rabbo; shekken kal adam she’MUSHLAM yihyeh k’rabbo.”

Translation in English: “No student can be above his teacher, but everyone that is a MUSLIM, can be as his teacher.”

Evidence from the English translation of Luke 6:40 that further prove that the word ‘Muslim’ was used by Jesus:

Luke 6:40 (KJV) The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master.

Luke 6:40 (Darby)
The disciple is not above his teacher, but every one that is perfected shall be as his teacher.

Luke 6:40 (Young’s Literal Translation)
A disciple is not above his teacher, but every one perfected shall be as his teacher.

Luke 6:40 (21st Century King James Version)
The disciple is not above his master, but every one that is perfect shall be as his master.

Luke 6:40 (American Standard Version)
The disciple is not above his teacher: but every one when he is perfected shall be as his teacher.

The perfection here means a spiritual one. What the verse is saying is that knowledge is not what matters! The teacher or master is higher in knowledge than his student. But the student can be as high as his teacher, or even higher, by being a true ‘MUSHLAM’ or Muslim, a spiritually perfect and well-disciplined person!

Important Note: The Hebrew word “Mushlam” comes from the root “Sh L M”. “Shalom” which comes from the same root means “peace”. The Arabic word “Muslim” comes from the root “S L M”. “Salam” means “peace”. “Salem” means “safe”. Also taken from the Aramaic bible society, home.comcast.net/~rzuberi/index_files/page0005.htm, and home.comcast.net/~rzuberi/articles/Being_Like_The_Teacher.pdf.

Another Important Note: In case the pdf file gets lost from the “home.comcast.net” site, Ii ise uploaded it to this site. You can access a copy of on this site at this link:

so… are you implying that the use of the word is meant to mean a level of perfection…

and so 600 years later when the pagan Mohammad came on the scene, he may have chosen a word from scripture to label his new philosplhy/theology?

perhaps… we already know that some of scripture was “incorporated” into the early and later writings … unfortunately the most important theology - Jesus Is God - was unacceptable to the false prophet Mohammed.

Tough language… sure. But the Truth is the Truth.

first… no need to yell… the posters hear are quite adept at reading, skimming etc. I think many tend to overlook the large fonts.

second… Luke was most likely written in Greek, not Aramaic

third… the premise of your link is that the Quran is the final word, “…verified by the Quran…” etc. That may be something that you profess. but it won’t hold up to true historical or religious history.

fourth… on the special day we celebrate the Incarnation - the Word made Flesh - we as Catholics could NEVER consider the heresy that Jesus is only equal to human prophets (none of whom were always eager to do God’s will)

You say Mohammed was pagan? Do you know the meaning of the word “pagan” and what Mohammed taught (monotheism)? Also do you know history of Muhammed? If not, how can you claim this!?
You say early scripts incorporated into the early writings, it is right, but incorporated by God, because God taught same doctrines to different prophets at different times. But because scripts were altered and changed by human-made laws, God kept sending new books, that actually taught same laws! God surely doesn’t mislead his creatures by teaching different values.

False prophet? Hmm, Bible from barnaba confirm BBY NAME that next prophet after Jesus will come and his name will be Muhammed, here’s a link to Barnaba Bible: www.barnaba.net (give search to the word Muhammed, and you will find verses about him)!

It seems that original Posters comments are based on the fact that he/she thinks that the Gospel of Luke was written in Aramaic…it was not it was written in GREEK…or all reputable sources believe that it was 🙂

You say Mohammed was pagan?
Yep, I was too, until I was baptized by water and the spirit into the body of the Church founded by Jesus, God Himself.
Do you know the meaning of the word “pagan” and what Mohammed taught (monotheism)? Also do you know history of Muhammed? If not, how can you claim this!?
Actually I have been reading a number of books on your prophet. The more in depth they are, the more we can see the errors of the man.
You say early scripts incorporated into the early writings, it is right, but incorporated by God, because God taught same doctrines to different prophets at different times.
I don’t have any Catholic reference that God taught different doctrines. So, if they are the same, and Islam does not teach those same doctrines (unchanging truths), I must consider Islam as false, her prophet as false, and be considered an “unbeliever”. Praise God when I accept His grace to stand up for Him as He did for me.
But because scripts were altered and changed by human-made laws, God kept sending new books, that actually taught same laws! God surely doesn’t mislead his creatures by teaching different values.
That is the same stuff the Mormans and the JW’s use to create any interest in their man-made laws/doctrines. Only Christianity was founded by God, and only in the Catholic Church can there be found the fullness of Truth. The Truth is not something, It is Somebody, and His Name is Jesus.

False prophet? Hmm, Bible from barnaba confirm BBY NAME that next prophet after Jesus will come and his name will be Muhammed, here’s a link to Barnaba Bible: www.barnaba.net (give search to the word Muhammed, and you will find verses about him)!
Some day we can buy a bible that claims “the next prophet…” and that will be as weak an argument as your Barny Bible.

One Lord… One Faith… One Baptism.

Those words, together, are in the only scripture that matter… that which is divinly written by God the Holy Spirit.
May the Peace of the Lord Jesus Christ shine on you and yours during this Holy Season.
May the Virgin Mother of God guide you to her words, spoken about her Son at Cana “Do as He tells you”.

Where does this say “Muslim”?

The name “Jordan” appears in the Bible - 197 times.

Is the OT prophesying the coming of Jordan ? Only in the same sense as it is prophesying of Muhammad.

Provided one looks only at what suits one purpose, one can prove anything from the Bible. Lots of Johns, Sarahs, Jameses, Isaacs & so on are in the Bible too: but what of it? Unlike the name of Muhammad, our names are complete words;*** not*** mere sequences of letter. So to find us in the Bible requires much less manipulation of its text than to find that other chatracter does

A mere sequence of letters is proof of nothing - the sense they give, is what matters. And if the sense of a verse is not a prophecy of a person, it is an abuse of the text to read it as such.

Which is why Genesis 11 is not a prophecy of the coming of the novelist Isaac Babel - even though the name /Babel\ appears in the text as a complete word, rather than as a mere sequence of letters

The Muslim attempt to find their prophet in the Bible is illogical and unprincipled - they cannot:
  • use the Bible as a sequence of letters in which to “discover” their prophet
and
  • make much of of the corruption of the text, inorder to exalt the Koran
for:
  • either the text is reliable enough to go on a Muhammad-hunt
or
  • it is corrupt
and
  • Muhammad hunting is therefore impossible:
after all, it could be that the alleged appearances of that man’s name are mirages arising from textual corruption.
  • IOW, Muslim apologetic on these points is inconsistent and self-contradictory.
Besides
  • the mere appearance of a word, does not amount to prophecy, let alone a favourable prophecy:
and
  • it could be argued,*** if*** one were to accept that the appearance of letters spelling a name were of itself a prophecy of a person bearing that name(which there is no reason to believe, but let us accept this; purely for the sake of argument)
that
  • the name was in the text as a warning against (in this case) Muhammad.
Besides
  • Muhammad was not the only Muhammad; maybe Mehmet II “the Conqueror” is meant; or Muhammad Ali. Or some other, as yet unborn.
So:
  • that the camel-driver born in Arabia in about 570 is intended, is an interpretation read into the text, based upon no evidence except the requirement of Muslim apologetic.
The whole idea that this man is:
  • prophesied of
  • favourably
  • in the Bible
is without any basis whatever. Not even one of those three points is valid; let alone all of them.

On second thoughts - perhaps this contains a prophecy of Muhammad:
  • 2 John 1:7 For many deceivers have gone out into the world, men who will not acknowledge the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh; such a one is the deceiver and the antichrist.
  • 2Jo 1:8 Look to yourselves, that you may not lose what you have worked for, but may win a full reward.
  • 2Jo 1:9 Any one who goes ahead and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God; he who abides in the doctrine has both the Father and the Son.
  • 2Jo 1:10 If any one comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into the house or give him any greeting;
  • 2Jo 1:11 for he who greets him shares his wicked work.
My apologies for being so sceptical about prophecies of Muhammad in the Bible - he is warned against in anticipation, for he denies what Christians have universally affirmed. ##

The original OP was basing his/her assumption that Muhammad is mentioned in Luke 6:40 by saying that it was written in Aramaic & translated to Arabic. All reputable sources state that the Gospel of Luke was written in GREEK. So the OP’s assumption has to be incorrect as he basis his assumption on the text being written orginally in Aramaic and since it was not he/she is twisting things to suit their need (falsehoods)?!?!

therefore every muslim should practice jhad aganist christians and jewish people like muhammad?

It is obvious that Mr. Djigit breaks the first rule of interpreting the Bible, namely, that one does not go into it to prove one’s pre-conception.

The only message of the Bible is its inherent message in its own terms explained through the living Body of Christ on earth, the Roman CAtholic Church.

It appears that you are doing serious study why you “decide”. Good post… short, linked, to the point.

The Hebrew word “Mushlam” comes from the root “Sh L M”. “Shalom” which comes from the same root means “peace”.
In Later Hebrew maybe which post dates Islam, but not in Biblical Hebrew!!! Nice try
Arabic word denoting “submission to God”; the name given to the religion of Mohammed and to the practises connected therewith. This religion was preached first to Mohammed’s follow citizens in Mecca, then to all Arabia; and soon after his death it was spread to distant lands by the might of the sword. Its followers are called “Moslems” (Arabic,“Muslimin”). The word “Islam” represents the infinitive, the noun of action, of the factitive stem of the Arabic root “salam,” and is rightly compared (Zunz, “Literaturgesch.” p. 641; comp. Steinschneider, “Polemische und Apologetische Literatur,” p. 266, note 56) with the use of the “hif’il” of “shalam” in later Hebrew; e.g., Pesiḳ. 125a (“mushlam”); Tan., ed. Buber, Gen. p. 46 ib. (where “hishlim” is used of proselytes).
