How does one know if one is speaking with Jesus during Communion or if its just one’s own mind popping ideas in?

Looking forward to some comments because I was wondering about exactly the same thing today.

Ideas popping in your mind sounds like silent prayer to me, so you are speaking TO Jesus…if your heart, mind, and soul are being touched by your speaking to Jesus, I would say that is a sure indication that Jesus is talking TO you.

So, therefore (and directly to the point of you question), you are truly speaking WITH Jesus.

peace and all good!

I happened to read one book recently and felt its against god but somehow surgeons spirit inside me screamed its true to the last word , “Scientists have somehow missed definitions of gender in human beings,” states Dr. Makarand Fulzele. Insights gained from years of practice as surgeon makes him wonder if indeed we have overlooked facts staring in our face. Nature has a tendency to hide many secrets but at the same time it provides enough clues to unravel its mysteries. Dr. Fulzele picks up loose threads from life to stitch together the theory that man is an extension of woman in his new book, “Man Is the Extension of Woman: Know the Ultimate Truth about Yourself” (published by iUniverse). Dr. Fulzele’s book explores similarities between men and women against the backdrop of their genetic differences, physical variations, and emotional and intellectual dissimilarities. Dr. Fulzele who is a successful surgeon further explains in his book: The main hypothesis I discuss in this book is that, if a woman lives long enough she will be converted into a man physically. A similar thing can also be stated about man. It is wrong to categorize humankind into two genders as it implicates that they are extremely dissimilar and physically opposite to each other. I try to prove that man and woman are just two different stages of one developmental process. And physically they are very similar. The ideas presented may sound unconventional but Dr. Fulzele implores readers to consider his point of view with an open mind. “Your world will not change if you do not agree with me. But if you agree with me, how does it change your world? If more people agree with you and me, how does it change our world? The possibilities are limitless.”
But my question is that even if its true will it change the world for better

What happens if that “conversation” leads you to the conclusion that you are a doomed soul?

Specifically, I was trying to follow the example from scripture where Jesus told the story of the two men in the temple – one in the front telling God how good he is and the one in the back asking God for mercy. I was listing my sinful habits asking Jesus to help me overcome then.

Then the idea entered my mind that just one of these sins is enough to damn me to hell and here I am struggle with just one of them and that even if I manage to over come a few of them, I’ll never be able to overcome all of them – meaning that eventually I’ll be lost anyway.

Based on your comments, should I assume this was Jesus speaking to me.

For me, I find that anything that gives me peace, is lasting, consistent with the teaching of the Catholic Church, and draws me closer to God may be indicative that God speaking to me. The 1st thing is that peace is accompanied by the thought. If you feel distress by the thought, it isn’t from God as He is a God of peace (see e.g., 1 Cor. 14:33). Thus, even it the thought at first appears holy and good, if your mind is bothered, the source is not from God.

Secondly, if the thought is lasting for some time, it may be some sort of confirmation or direction from God. For example, I have a memory of some words that I thought came from God this past January. I can remember exactly where I was and the circumstances surrounding the thought. I had an “aha” moment and felt great relief and peace. My gratitude toward God increased as a result. To this day, I still have the same peace.

Thirdly, the thought must be consistent with the teaching of the Catholic Church. Thus, for example, if the thought instructs you to do something immoral, the voice is not from God.

Lastly, if the thought draws you closer to God so that your trust and love for Him increase, the thought may be from God.

These are just my opinions based on my reading of the writings of St. Ignatius of Loyola and St. Theresa of Avila.

A tomato tree is growing . Its not male or female. Its just a tree. Letz call it male. Now the season change .The flowers are ripening into red tomatoes. The tree itself feel different from within . The structure is same only the feelings are different . Its blushing like a woman. But wait . Its not going to last like this. Soon the tomatoes will fall. Aloha its a male again,(ref. Man is the extension of woman)

I think, and this is just an opinion, that when Jesus comes to us in Communion, He doesn’t have to use words at all because we are consuming His very being.

I get thoughts, some good some bad some neither, but I don’t try to figure them out I just “listen” kind of, and trust the Holy Spirit is using these thoughts, wherever they came from, will use my having had those thoughts, for good. No matter what happens I always try to remember Rom 8:28.

I have a very noisy mind even when I know that I am going to Communion. But I know within myself why I am going… My belief in the Presence of Jesus, and my love for Him and His love for me that brought me there. I thank Him for coming to me with all my baggage, and to keep coming. My will is His, and as much as I would like my mind to be wholely concentrated on Him it is something I have to put up with.,and keep trying to recall what it supposed to do. I have experienced "real Presence " so this is a special gift, but like most people we act on what we believe without seeing, it pleases God more. I try not to worry too much about my thoughts, but I pay more attention to my will. My mind is like Martha, busy about a lot of things, my will is like Mary, it has chosen the better part, at the feet of Christ.

thats not my answer I wasnt to ask if science tells one thing religion other, how do u cope
To ask a new question, it would be good to start a new thread. But the short answer is that truth doesn’t contradict truth, so science and religion are compatible. In the case you cited, it’s one man’s theory, it isn’t some scientific studies. And there is no evidence for it. Even the longest lived men and woman (and male/female animals) show no sign of changing to the other gender.

Surgeongirl I see Man and Woman as complimentary beings, sharing the same humanity but individually unique in their human nature. They are composed of body and soul. Although there is a physical difference in their make-up, and that difference shows purpose in the different properties of each. They propagate their own species They compliment each other in their activities, one is nurturing, the other is providing. Also there is the companionship between them. They each fill a need that all humans have, a need for love, we are also social creatures. What do you mean woman is an extension of man? They are complete in themselves, although I believe that it is said, in love for a woman man is loving himself. I don’t think any scientists views will change the world if it is not in accord with God’s design. It might cause a lot of confusion. It is very self-evident the purpose of two genders in the same species, in the animal world, the vegitative world, and the human world. Its the rational part of the human world that needs enlightenment, and without God it remains subject to ignorance. We must do our best to remain objective, to be in contact with reality. I’m aware that much science is subjective because they don’t transcend to the spiritual, they remain earth bound.
