Jesus without sin

I gave the matter some more thought and came up with the following explanation for you - I’ll give it my best shot…

All of the sacraments gain their strength and power from Jesus’ passion. When we receive the sacraments, God gives us graces necessary for our salvation, whether it be the 7 gifts of the Holy Spirit at Confirmation, or the grace to avoid habitual sin which we get from frequent reconciliation and reception of the Eucharist. Jesus’ passion is the lifeline through which the sacraments receive their grace-giving powers. Jesus had to remain sinless in order for this to be, because for a true sacrifice, it had to be a “spotless lamb” and Jesus’ spotlessness was His sinlessness. If He had sinned, He would not have been the spotless lamb (as was prefigured in the Exodus story of Passover - the lamb had to be spotless).

Therefore, Jesus being without sin made the passion a true victory over death and, therefore, gives us the hope of salvation that God intended.

I hope that helps you.

The wages of sin is death. Jesus is without sin, so He has eternal life. So when we become part of Jesus’ body, we can share in this gift.

Well, Jesus with sin means either that God is not who/what we think, or that Jesus was not God.
