The Peace of the Lord be with all of you,

It is written in the New Testament that John the Baptist baptised our Lord Jesus Christ.

A reason why we are baptised is that for our Original sin to be forgiven. Our Lord Jesus, of course, is sinless. He is not affected by any sin including the original sin from Adam and Eve.

So why was Our Lord Jesus baptised?

I am just curious. I am not denying or refusing my faith

God be with us all
THANK YOU:)

Jesus was Baptized for all of the following reasons:
  1. NT Baptism replaces OT Circumcision which “signed” a personal covenant relationship
John 3:5
Genesis 17:12
  1. Jesus throughout the NT gives himself as OUR role model… Take up your cross and FOLLOW ME…Matt. 10:38; Mark 8:34 & Luke 9:23
So by being [unnecessary] baptized Jesus was telling ALL to “Follow Me”
  1. Being Baptized is the FIRST necessary evidence of our humble Obedience and fidelity to Christ:thumbsup:
Thanks for asking

I believe at that time was the right time for God to reveal his Son to the world.

So why was Our Lord Jesus baptised?
Here are some things that came to my mind…
By submitting to John’s baptism, even though Jesus was sinless, he affirmed that John was indeed a true prophet and his ministry was from God. By submitting to John’s baptism, Jesus gave a good example for every sinner to follow. By submitting to John’s baptism, Jesus made the expedient choice and avoided having to answer the question, Why aren’t you receiving John’s baptism? that his refusal would certainly have provoked at a time when he did not the general public to know of his sinlessness and his divinity. By Jesus submitting to John’s baptism, the sign given to John would be fulfilled that the one upon whom John saw the Spirit descend and remain was the Messiah, which then allowed John to direct his disciples away from himself and toward the Messiah.
