Siege of Jerusalem 70AD

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siege_of_Jerusalem_(70
Luke 19:41
As He drew near, He saw the city and wept over it, saying, "If this day you only knew what makes for peace–but now it is hidden from your eyes. For the days are coming upon you when your enemies will raise a palisade against you; they will encircle you and hem you in on all sides.

They will smash you to the ground and your children within you, and they will not leave one stone upon another within you because you did not recognize the time of your visitation."
Luke 23:28
Jesus turned to them and said, "Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for Me; weep instead for yourselves and for your children, for indeed, the days are coming when people will say, ‘Blessed are the barren, the wombs that never bore and the breasts that never nursed.’

At that time people will say to the mountains, ‘Fall upon us!’ and to the hills, ‘Cover us!’
for if these things are done when the wood is green what will happen when it is dry?"

IMO, the most interesting period of ancient history is the 300 year build up toward the coming of Christ and the 300 year build up of the Church after His Ascension.

You’ll find a lot of interesting lead in information about the destruction of the 2nd Temple by beginning with the Jewish Hasmonean Dynasty.

I believe this was following the detruction of the temple of Jerusalem in 70AD.
Thanks for your answer. Is the reason because after the destruction they had no place to make the sacrifice? If so and the temple was ever rebuilt would they resume animal sacrifice?

The passages shown in this thread from Luke greatly highlight what carnage that the Jewish people suffered that day. While I suspect the number killed as noted on Wikipedia is much smaller, still, the blood of the slaughtered people there seems connected to the Temple’s original purpose–and leaves the Jewish faith in a sort of limbo, in my opinion.

The islamic dome of the rock now occupies that space -

I dont believe that the muslims will let them do that - rebuild that is…!

There are more than a few major challenges to the reconstruction of the Temple outside of the Dome of the Rock and al-Aqsa mosque.

Not all Jews agree with this author’s position, but those who agree with him will have to see these criteria met before recognising a Third Temple.

The rebuilding will be with G-d’s help, so I don’t think the Muslims are going to stop
it, LOL.

When did Jews stop making animal sacrifices to God?
We were only allowed to sacrifice in the place of G-d’s choosing, which was in the Tempe.
Since it was destroyed, we are no longer able to sacrifice until it is rebuilt.

When that temple starts being rebuilt. I’m packing my bags and putting on my best dress.😉
