Could I please receive elaboratation as to the repeated references to “Jewish Supremism” in different threads on CAF . What is its definition, sources and how does it express itself? Is the idea of Jewish supremism similar to the idea
of “Jewish Naturalism” as espoused by Fr. Fahey and if so, is it a concept rooted in Catholicism and Catholic attitudes towards Jews?

I haven’t seen many threads with this term, but in general, to be completely honest with you, those who use it tend to have views similar to those of Fr. Fahey, and we’re talking about a small number of Catholics. Also, expressions like the one you cited are generally used to refer to Talmudist Rabbis, whose followers represent a small proportion of contemporary Jewry.

The moderators in this forum won’t knowingly permit any expressions considered odious to Jewish people in general.

Thank you for your reply. Could you please explain the term “Talmudist Rabbi”, is this a Rabbi who is mentioned in the Talmud or any non reform Rabbi who follows Jewish halachah (Jewish Law)? Why are “Talmudist Rabbis” supremist?

My apologies as for the moment I can only answer the first part of your question. By ‘Talmudist’ here I was referring to Orthodox Rabbis as opposed to Reform Rabbis.

Hi CP! Shalom Elechim!

I can certainly understand your distress at the terms that you have read around here from some members. Please understand that they are not the authority with regard to Catholic response and interaction with the Jews.

It is my opinion that “Jewish Supremism” and “Jewish Naturalism” are weird terms that are bandied about by some anti-Semitic people who do not reflect the teachings of the Catholic Church.

If by “Jewish Supremism” one means that Israel has a right to freely exist and for its people to live unmolested by aggression then I think most Catholics will readily assent to it. If someone told me that they felt that it meant that Israel wanted to take over the whole world, (which I have never heard from any Jew that I have ever known, and I have a close Orthodox Jewish friend) then I would have to just look at them like they are from Mars or something because I have never heard anything out of any Jew nor from the nation of Israel that asserts any such thing, so I have no problem with it.

As for Fr. Fahey…the only references that I have been able to locate on his writings are from extreme groups that I want little to do with. I consider their rhetoric anti-Semitic. I won’t even post links to their stuff that I researched just now here at CAF.

I hope that this helps a bit.
Elechim shalom.

All I know that it is a title of a book by David Duke, I do not encourage anyone to talk about it.

Edit:

Looked it up, it isn’t the title of a David Duke book… but it sounds somewhat similar.

Good idea, do not associate yourself with hatred or think thoughts that are conducive to hatred. I am one example of this, and, fortunately, my mind wasn’t completely corrupted. I will speak no further about this…

I did a search and found a very limited number of times when that phrase appeared. And that was all by one person.

I cannot address the issue properly if there are more usages that the search function did not find , or if there are similar phrases that did not show up in my search. Having said that…

This is the first time I’ve ever heard the term so it does not seem likely that it is repeatedly used here or in Catholicism in general.

These forums have a huge number of people signed up. We are sure to get a few poorly catechized people or people on whom the Gospel is lost.

The fault is mine,I must have been humming a Diana Ross and the Supremes tune. My inquiry was intended as to “Jewish supremacy” and to “Jewish supremacism”-

Due to the confusion I have started a new thread under “Jewish Supremacy”. I thank those who participated on this thread and hope they will join the discussion on the new thread.
