Micah 4:1 It shall come to pass in the LATTER DAYS that the mountain of the HOUSE OF THE LORD SHALL BE ESTABLISHED as the highest of the mountains, and SHALL BE RAISED UP above the hills; and PEOPLES shall flow to it, and MANY NATIONS shall come and say: “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the HOUSE of GOD of Jacob; that he may teach us his ways and we may walk in his paths.”

Also of recent interest is :

1). It’s been determined that the Dome of the Rock was built in the wrong spot. 150 ft to the south of where Jewish Temples 1 & 2 were located. Now, the Jews won’t need to remove/destroy the Dome in order to rebuild the FINAL temple.

2). The Orthodox Jews [The Faithful of the Temple Mount] have made extensive plans to rebuild the new temple. An exact replica of # 2 is complete. Funding is set & waiting for the pronouncement.

3). The Dome of the Spirits [Tablets] has definitively been identified as ground zero — where the ARK rested.

4.) The Levite Priests are being trained to conduct Temple rites / sacrifices … approved by the Sanhedrin.

Its perfect arrangement when you think about it. The Dome of the Rock was built over the Court of the Gentiles … and can remain where it is, as it is in the Gentile’s spot. And, the Moslems can’t send in a Scud Missile to destroy the 3rd Temple, for fear they would also destroy they own DOME next door.

Yes, according to one proposal. There are still quite a few other theories out there which express that the Temple was indeed built in the site where the Dome of the Rock is (I find Leen Ritmeyer’s hypothesis to be quite convincing in this regard) - so saying it’s been ‘determined’ with certainty is at best, misleading.
2). The Orthodox Jews [The Faithful of the Temple Mount] have made extensive plans to rebuild the new temple. An exact replica of # 2 is complete. Funding is set & waiting for the pronouncement.
Again, let’s not fall into danger of generalizing. 🙂
Identifying ‘Orthodox Jews’ without qualification with the Temple Mount & Eretz Yisrael Faithful Movement is also quite misleading, since there also are a number of groups within Judaism which do have similar goals: the Temple Institute is one.
Now, within Judaism itself, there is some debate whether the rebuilding of the Temple will occur through the hands of man or the hands of God - these groups are actually controversial in some circles.
These groups interpret a saying by Maimonides to mean that Jews should attempt to build the Temple themselves, and have a mitzvah (obligation) to do so if they can; however, this interpretation is also a matter of contention - some believe that the only one who will be able to rebuild the Temple is the Messiah, or so I have heard.
3). The Dome of the Spirits [Tablets] has definitively been identified as ground zero — where the ARK rested.
See my reply to point no. 1. BTW, Mr. Ritmeyer makes a proposal that the Ark rested on the Sakhra (Arabic for ‘rock’; aka in Hebrew Even ha-Shetiyah “Foundation Stone”). He claims to have found a rectangular depression on the rock where the Ark was probably placed:

Who knows if Ritmeyer got it right or wrong, but he presents some very interesting thoughts nevertheless. By the way, there is one other theory (aside from the aforementioned two) which places the Ark of the Covenant - and the Holy of Holies - near el-Kas fountain to the south of the Dome of the Rock. So, far from being an already certain point, we are still far from deducing the correct location of the Temple/s!
4.) The Levite Priests are being trained to conduct Temple rites / sacrifices … approved by the Sanhedrin.
Which of course is also a reconstruction. The historical Sanhedrin became finally defunct around the 4th century. Wikipedia notes that:

After the destruction of the Second Temple in 70, the Sanhedrin was re-established in Yavneh (aka Jamnia) with reduced authority. The imperial Roman government and legislation still recognized it as the ultimate authority in Jewish religious matters.

It moved to Usha under the presidency of Gamaliel II in 80. In 116 it moved back to Yavneh, and again back to Usha. It moved in 140 to Shefaram under the presidency of Shimon ben Gamliel II, and to Beth Shearim and Sephoris in 163, under the presidency of Yehudah I. Finally, it moved to Tiberias in 193, under the presidency of Gamaliel III (193–220) ben Judah haNasi, where it became more of a consistory, but still retained, under the presidency of Judah II (220–270), the power of excommunication.

During the presidency of Gamaliel IV (270–290), due to persecution of an increasingly Christianized Rome, it dropped the name Sanhedrin, and its authoritative decisions were subsequently issued under the name of Beth HaMidrash.

As a reaction to the emperor Julian’s pro-Jewish stance, Theodosius I forbade the Sanhedrin to assemble and declared ordination illegal. (Roman law prescribed capital punishment for any Rabbi who received ordination and complete destruction of the town where the ordination occurred).

However, since the Hebrew calendar was based on witnesses’ testimony, that had become far too dangerous to collect, Hillel II recommended change to a mathematically-based calendar that was adopted at a clandestine, and maybe final, meeting in 358. This marked the last universal decision made by that body.

Gamaliel VI (400–425) was the Sanhedrin’s last president. With his death in 425, executed by Theodosius II for erecting new synagogues contrary to the imperial decree, the title Nasi, the last remains of the ancient Sanhedrin, became illegal. An imperial decree of 426 diverted the patriarchs’ tax (post excessum patriarchorum) into the imperial treasury.

Hi guys,
I have an alternative theory on the whole third temple thing…
As Christians, we are the Third temple…remember Jesus said “destroy this temple, and I’ll rebuild it in 3 days”… He of course was refering to Himself, not the Jewish Temple.
We as Christians who have been baptized into Christ, our bodies become a “temple of the Holy Spirit”, and The Church is refered to as the “new Israel”, so perhaps the third temple is already established, and we are it.
-any thoughts on this guys?

Do you think rebuilding the temple is a good thing? If so why? Seems to me re-establishing animal sacrifices would be an affront to God at this point.

Jewish Temple #2 prophesied in Scripture and built millenia ago

**It is I who confirm the words of my servants, I carry out the plan announced by my messengers; I say to Jerusalem: Be inhabited; to the cities of Judah: Be rebuilt; I will raise up their ruins. It is I who said to the deep: Be dry; I will dry up your wellsprings. I say of Cyrus: My shepherd, who fulfills my every wish; He shall say of Jerusalem, “Let her be rebuilt,” and of the temple, “Let its foundations be laid.” (Isa 44:26-28)

It was I who stirred up one for the triumph of justice; all his ways I make level. He shall rebuild my city and let my exiles go free Without price or ransom, says the LORD of hosts. (Isa 45:13)**

The elders of the Jews continued to make progress in the building, supported by the message of the prophets, Haggai and Zechariah, son of Iddo. They finished the building according to the command of the God of Israel and the decrees of Cyrus and Darius (and of Artaxerxes, king of Persia). They completed this house on the third day of the month Adar, in the sixth year of the reign of King Darius. The Israelites–priests, Levites, and the other returned exiles–celebrated the dedication of this house of God with joy. For the dedication of this house of God, they offered one hundred bulls, two hundred rams, and four hundred lambs, together with twelve he-goats as a sin-offering for all Israel, in keeping with the number of the tribes of Israel. Finally, they set up the priests in their classes and the Levites in their divisions for the service of God in Jerusalem, as is prescribed in the book of Moses. (Ezra 6:14-18)

There are a lot of Evangelicals and Fundamentalist Protestants who ardently wish for the 3rd temple to be built, as it would herald the Apocalypse (and/or Rapture) They support the Jews in the building of this 3rd temple in whatever way they can. They have no interest in Judaism, just the End Times. Some Jews on the other hand, are interested in reviving the Temple, the Levitical Priesthood, the bloody sacrifices and are taking steps to have them re-established. Already many of the required temple vessels and menorah have been made in gold in grand size and style.

Personally I believe when/if the 3rd temple is built, it will be ruled over by the Anti-Christ.

I’d be thinking along the same sort of lines.
The prophesies regarding the Temple were made when the Jewish people were still considered the people of the Covenant. Now that the Old Covenant has been completed by Jesus, the new Covenant was established with those that believed in Him, who received His Body and Blood, ‘the sign of the New Covenant’. I can’t imagine that the Jewish Temple of old plays a part in the end times, because the Jewish tradition does not embrace all of revealed truth. If there is a Temple, it will be one where the New Covenant can be celebrated.
So perhaps it is a heavenly Temple, the Temple in the New Jerusalem that will come at the end.

God bless:)

Does that mean the false prophet would be in charge of day to day operations?
Don’t know but it’s curious you ask such a specific question. Do you have something on your mind with regards to temple sacrifice or the temple being rebuilt?

I don’t know if history will closely repeat itself in the last days, but the Temple Jews were the false prophet/earth beast of the 1st century Apocalypse. They rejected the sacrifice of the New Covenant and continued with animal sacrifice. In addition they performed sacrifice to Nero (which was idol worship that caused the mark of the beast).

Would the Lord accept the reinstitution of animal sacrifice after ending it 2000 years ago?

No, I don’t think He would that’s why I said it would be an affront to God to try to re-establish animal sacrifice.

From a Christian perspective, yes. Keep in mind that it is not the Christians who would be building the temple but Jews who don’t accept Jesus as their Messiah. If they do build a temple and reinstitute the sacrifices they will be meaningless but they don’t know that.

The Early Jewish Christians continued to go to the Temple. And, Paul allowed eating the sacrificed meat … provided they saw it only as physical and not spiritual food.

Perhaps if they were allowed to restart the animal sacrifices … they would come to see it no longer provides the grace to them that it did in OT days. Suddenly they might start to realize that the One True Sacrifice has been made for eternity … and only the Eucharist need be celebrated at their altar.

The sacrificed meat Paul was talking about was meat sacrificed to pagan idols, not the Jewish temple sacrifices. Early Jewish believers went to the temple - and synagogues - to share the good news, not to participate in the rituals.
