It’s sad you think the largest mission field to our Lord Jesus’ earthly brethern is “an abomination.”

First off, how well is that land serving as a “mission field” today? Where is Christ’s message there? (I do believe its there, but it is constantly stomped out and overshadowed by the opposite. www.ripplescross.com) Also, I wasn’t speaking of the Israel that Jesus was born into, there is a major difference.

More importantly…
Throughout the New Testament we are taught that the new Israel is composed of those who call Jesus their Messiah and follow His commandments. I think it’s sad that a Christian could be confused on this point (and I think many are). Israel is you and I and it is free to all–no borders, checkpoints, suicide bombs, and the only real freedom we may have in this life. In light of this, the physical, bloodsoaked, land of Israel is an abomination. God does not need guns, bombs and armies to ensure that His will be done.

Paul, reflecting on the “failure” of God to give peace to Israel:

“But it is not that the word of God has failed. For not all who are of Israel are Israel, nor are they all children of Abraham because they are his descendants…” Romans 9:6-7

It’s serving very well. With many Jews living there now(that came from all over the world), its nice to see churches working hard to bringing them back to God. Like the church of Philadelphia, the door is always open. The church there are bringing people in and sending people out with the Gospel of Jesus. Here is an example of of the growing number of ministries in Israel- TrumpetofSalvation.
Tell you what, for every “Israeli abomination” link you post in defense of your bleak view of Israel, I’ll post a link to an Israeli Christian Ministry working to bringing real peace to the land by the way of Jesus.

Even at a secular level, at least Israels public schools are getting 12 years of bible studies in state elementary and secondary schools.

Can we say the same in America or any other nation?

Israel is Israel. There is no “new” Israel. God always has a believing remnant of Israel. As for Romans 9:6-7, we see the Word of God did not fail, for the first Christians were Jews and made up the Church, but they also represented the remnant of Israel. Peace was with the remnant then. There is a remnant today, and Gods peace is with them too… By Christ, we Gentiles enter his church where there is no more wall of partition between the Jews and Gentiles. We are all equal in Christ. But as for Israel, there will be a full and final restoration of Israel, the land and the people when Jesus comes back . You can debate this, but the prophets speak clearly of this.

I find it strange that some Christians will find every reason to call the land of Israel an “abomination” and at the same time, talk out the other side of their mouth and call the place the “Holy Land”.

Isn’t proselytizing a Jew to convert to another religion against the law in the zionist state?

Most Jews view such proselytization as a spiritual Holocaust, because missionaries seek to take Jews away from their ancestral faith…finishing spiritually what Hitler started physically.

The Israeli state is maintained by great violence and subjugation. The “way of Jesus” is anathema to their objectives.

And what would that be?

The difference is that God needed Israel to survive until Jesus. Then Jesus changed everything. I am not completely sure about this–the prophets don’t “speak clearly,” nearly as much for me as they do for you–but I think that we are to believe that Jesus introduced a bunch of metaphors:

The Promised Land=heaven
Israel=true believers
The Temple=Jesus himself

In order for God’s message to go universal, these things had to change.

could somebody set us straight? Perhaps our different branches of Christianity teach us different things? I am Catholic. I believe these are standard Catholic beliefs. (somebody please correct me if I’m wrong!!!)
