Kaninchen:

So it seems the OT Jews do not believe or embrace the Holy Trinity. Would I be correct in saying the OT hints at the HT or would that not be true. Also, would the new Jews of today do they believe. in the HT.
It’s not the ‘OT’ to Jews, by the way, it’s the Tanakh. 🙂

No, Jews in biblical times did not believe in the Trinity, Jews now don’t believe in the Trinity. It’s a Christian concept.

Kaninchen thank you for laying it out for me. I’ll also call the OT by the Jewish name—Tanakh.😃

Well, I think you’ll have to wait for CAF to recruit some new Jews who might not be tired of this sort of stuff and this sort of approach.
 aren’t we all here voluntarily? What does this have to do with “CAF recruiting new Jews who aren’t tired of this sort of stuff”?

My question deals with what you wrote

*No, it should also be borne in mind that one should be careful in using terms like ‘Father’ in case one ***‘anthropomorphizes’ ****God which would be idolatry.
So I responded to that with
anthropomorphize = to attribute human form or personality to things not human
All I’m asking is for you a Jew, to explain from a Jewish perspective this question from #6
based on your use of “anthropomorphizes”, I asked you to please explain Gen
1:26-27 from a Jewish perspective.
26 Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.” 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
I asked a reasonable question. If you don’t know the answer, then just say you don’t know.

It’s only a Christian concept as far as Judaism is concerned.

When it comes to Yahweh God, it’s Divine Revelation.

Hi, Steve!
I think you can note the tone of the replies… sometimes very subtle but quite adamant: dismissal and rejection.

Even if he/she dismisses and rejects the Trinity, he/she could at least, IMV,
  • recognize the topic of this thread is “Jews and the Trinity” so certain scriptures are going to be automatically discussed
  • and it would be nice to know from their Jewish perspective, an explanation to
(Emphasis mine)
Gen 1:

especially considering, from a Jewish perspective, anthropomorphize = to attribute human form or personality to things not human, is idolatry #[10 (http://forums.catholic-questions.org/showpost.php?p=14035568&postcount=10)

So I’m asking him/her how he/she explains those passages

…I think, in the mindset, it goes to the New Testament Writings (which are not considered Word of God by them) and Jesus not being accepted as Divine…

…so basically it’s a scolding!

Sadly, it’s a repetition of:
28 “What do you think? There was a man who had two sons. He went to the first and said, ‘Son, go and work today in the vineyard.’ 29 “‘I will not,’ he answered, but later he changed his mind and went. 30 “Then the father went to the other son and said the same thing. He answered, ‘I will, sir,’ but he did not go. 31 “Which of the two did what his father wanted?” “The first,” they answered. Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God ahead of you. 32 For John came to you to show you the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes did. And even after you saw this, you did not repent and believe him. (St. Matthew 21:28-32)

Yet I’m not asking **Kaninchen **about the NT or to comment on the NT or any part of it. I’m asking he/she about **THEIR **testament that Jews DO accept as scripture and comment on (Gen 1:26-27…)

😉 That aside,

I still would like **Kaninchen, **a Jew, to give a Jewish explanation of those passages from Genesis… understanding in advance, a “Jew” might have a broad understanding of religious beliefs. So cutting to the chase, I want to know what **Kaninchen’s **understanding of those passages are.

I get you… you want to pick his/her brain… sadly, when people have a preconception about something/someone they have a hard time letting go… they perceive an attack in the most inoffensive statements or acts…

…hopefully, since the person visits the site, they’ll get around to it…

Genesis 1New International Version (NIV)

1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
