This is the Jewish response you will hear to the question “do Christians go to heaven”

Judaism teaches that it easier for the Christian than for the Jew to get into the world to come. There is only one God and that we are all His children. For example, in the book of Yonah (Jonah) the people redeemed are Gentiles. God judges people by their actions. That is how Christians are judged, not by whether they have reached the point where they can grasp Torah in its widest sense and whether they can understand the concept of God without giving Him human form. A Jew who adopts the beliefs of the Christian will not get to the world to come. However, a Christian following the seven Noahide commandments most certainly will. As for “cursing the name of christ”, it would be a meaningless gesture as your messiah has absolutely no meaning or standing from our perspective. Do you start your day cursing Buddha? However, we are a little sensitive about being persecuted. Presenting Jews as people “cursing the name of christ and his Church” may, whether intentional or not, engender anti-Semitism.

That being said, what about people who HAVE heard of Christ and rejected them? You mentioned those who live in ignorance of Jesus, but those kinds of people are fewer and fewer as time passes. I have yet to meet a Jew who hasn’t heard the name “Jesus” before.

I’m thoroughly worn out by bigotry and ignorance masquerading as Church Teaching.
There’s no excuse for it. I’m allowed to state that fact as strongly as I want to state it.

Have people “heard” the Name of Jesus and yet learned not a thing about Him, other
than the pseudo-thoughtful rants of those who deny actual Church Teaching? Yes.

Because according to Orthodox Judaism, Jews are required to obey the Torah (and the 613 commandments), whilst Gentiles are only required to obey the 7 laws given to Noah in Genesis (part of the logic is the Jews are the descendants of Isaac, whilst everyone else is a descendent of Noah).

Your immature name-calling and baiting is what is both non-Catholic (ie, uncharitable) and appalling.

In post #54, you did not qualify that you were not defending that Jews can merit Heaven on the basis of ethnicity. Therefore, I was left to assume that you were; your overall tone on this thread has not made that clear. Not until you typed the word “NO” in a large and bolded font, as if that makes your “no” somehow more clear.

Furthermore, plenty of people have fallen away from the faith. What matters is that they come back. The fact that I fell away does not invalidate my understanding of it either before I fell away or now that I’ve returned and resumed my study of Catholic teaching. Attacking me via my past is dirty pool; taking cheap shots may be how *you *debate, but it is not how a mature and truly charitable Catholic debates. Also, my love of Tolkien’s writings and my support of firearms usage and rights has nothing to do with the argument. My dear, that’s an ad hominem fallacy; clearly you are unable to defend a point without attacking the person with whom you are debating. Someone supposedly educated in the 1950s should have a better grasp of decorum and charity.
