Dubai, 8 April (AKI) - Jihadist users of Al-Qaeda linked websites have been rejoicing at the devastating earthquake that hit Italy’s central Abruzzo region on Monday, describing it as a “divine punishment” for “the enemies of Islam”. The earthquake killed over 260 people, injured hundreds more and destroyed thousands of buildings, leaving 20,000 homeless.

"At last they have had their dark days too. O Allah, kill them and leave them destitute vagabonds," said one of a series of comments that have appeared on various jihadist websites this week.

The Abruzzo earthquake has made headline news around the world, and Al-Qaeda sympathisers have followed via Arabic TV networks.

The jihadists appear to be engaged in contest to see who can post updates on the death toll from the earthquake fastest.

A series of strong aftershocks since the main quake have caused further damage, hampering rescue efforts and further terrorising the population in the town of L’Aquila and surrounding villages. One man died of a heart-attack following a quake on Tuesday.

Between 20-30 people were still missing on Wednesday.

"O Allah, keep the earthquakes and tragedies coming - cursed be Europe, Israel and the United States," wrote ‘Ashiq al-Irhab’, which in Arabic means ‘desirous of terrorism’.

Another jihadist site, ‘al-Shura’, has been publishing tolls of the Abruzzo earthquake victims beneath each article, accompanied by a macabre prayer.

The prayer reads: "O Allah, may the death toll continue to rise. Destroy our enemies and help Muslims!"

A user of the ‘al-Shura’ website, Nureddin al-Zanki, writes: "We have a stronger weapon than guns - our prayers, which will further drive up the numbers of victims."

Similar messages from jihadists have been posted to the ‘Ansar’ and ‘Mujahidin’ websites, whose users have rejoiced in the past at other disasters to hit western nations.

Can Muslims actually believe that God will approve of such diabolical prayers??

Don’t you remember the film clips of 9/11 and muslims in islamic states were rejoicing to high heaven…

I remember as if it happened yesterday.

But remember Vickie, that’s **not **islam… 😃

Did you see any Christians or Jews rejoicing when the tsunami hit or huge earthquakes that rock the middle east?

I bet your answer will be no and believe me, if they were rejoicing, the media would have been all over it.

is cursing or invoking curses upon others forbidden according to Muhammad’s teachings? i don’t think so. Such attitudes remind me of Muhammad’s words " may Allah curse the Jews and Christians" .

Ah, yes, Muhammad the model for all mankind who doesn’t sin because he’s only doing what Allah commanded!

Funny how when there is a disaster in a Muslim nation, we rush aid to them. Boy, we are Satan’s spawn, aren’t we

Exactly! Many who have left Islam such as Nonie Darwish will tell you how they had hatred preached to them at the mosques. Wafa Sultan said that when she as a child read about Muhammad’s beheading of the Jews she thought nothing of it. There was another ex-Muslim who stated that when 9/11 happened he was one of those who watched with glee those who were jumping from the Twin Towers. Now that he’s left Islam he feels only shame for rejoicing at other people’s destruction.

Now kids are being taught hate and groomed to become suicide bombers!

Yes, Muslims will keep repeating ad nauseam that it’s not Islam!

Hey folks, instead of licking our wounds and feeling outraged by a bunch of dumb rants on some Muslim websites, why don’t we pray for these poor people? They are much closer to the Catholic faith than many people assume. Muslims highly honor Mary, they honor Jesus as a great prophet, and their code of ethics is not that disimilar from ours. We have more in common with them in this regard than the Jews, yet they are for some reason hated and vilified. Maybe when we all stop gazing at our collective navel and start extending a hand of mercy to the Muslim world, then they will start to take our faith seriously. Eternal souls are at stake here and God wants as many of these people in His kingdom as possible. Pray and fast for the salvation of the Muslim world, for this will not only benefit them, but us also and the whole world. Peace.

I do pray for them. However, I suggest that you study a little on the Mary and Jesus that they honor. They are not 100% copies of ours. And their code is not as close to ours as you think

Raphinal, I think Apocalypsenow made a great point, and I don’t think he is unaware of their view concerning Mary and Jesus.

He did, but we should always be aware that our terms have different meanings and we have different motives. It is not as easy to say “they honor Mary and see Jesus as a prophet, we can start there” as it is to say to a non_catholic Christian “We both use the same Bible and see the saving power of Christ’s work on the Cross.” The man they call Isa is NOT Jesus Christ. Even if you take out the Divinity of Christ, they are NOT the same person at all.

We do pray for them, but I don’t believe if we extend a hand of mercy to the muslims that will result in anything. We haven’t been able to suceed in this manner for 1400 years.

They do **not **take our faith seriously because Christianity is beneath islam, it has been for 1400 years and it will always be.

The Isa and Myriam in the koran, is not Jesus Christ and The Blessed Mary of our faith and Bible.

And I absolutely agree, but they with the little knowledge that they do have are striving in their own misguided way to honour Mary and Jesus (not refering to Jihadists). Personally, I pity them (the Muslims) for in the words of Jesus “they do not know what they do.” I just don’t want us to get caught up in the anger that reading these articles leads us into. It can foster an unnecessary hate towards all of Islam. Make no mistake, however, I applaud the efforts that certain posters make in revealing the dangerous elements within Islam. We always should be informed (and take proper action) of the goings-on in the World, only we should not use such information for the purpose of bashing. God bless.

Not even St. Francis of Assissi could get through to them! And yes, I pray for them every day as well.

Maybe we should start a thread about what makes Muslims so hard to reach.

I think it is out of fear that they do not leave Islam. I would be willing to bet that there are probably quite a few Muslims who would convert if not for fear of what they (extreme Muslims) would do to them.

Now, I agree 100% that we should not hate them. Like you, I pity most of them. We must not lose sight of the fact that for some reason, a number of them want to end our way of life, including our faith, and the majority do not care enough about innocent life to stop them. I think that most Muslims could care less about the west. I just wish they would care about their fellow man and end the violence that others committ

Vickie, we can start a new thread, but in my opinion, it will be fruitless.

They don’t believe they are hard to reach. They believe they are the best of religions out there and nothing can touch or come close to islam, or allah or mohamad.

The once muslims who become ex-muslims are the ones who are open minded and realize they have been on the wrong path and do something about it.

I don’t think the “hate” of Islam as you call it is unnecessary! Have you ever considered that it is precisely because of what Islam teaches that Muslims act that way? By their fruits you will know them!

Christians and others are suffering and being persecuted by Muslims every day.

Let’s see if any of our Muslim posters has anything to say about this thread!

I also do beleive it is out of fear that they stay put and make no moves. They know based on their books, cutltures and belief that they will no longer exist in life if they leave islam or even question it.

It is simply not allowed and don’t let the “no compulsion in religion” line fool you or anyone.

Christ died for **all **mankind, not just for his dozen followers/family and friends.
