I’ve been looking for Jobs for a while. A long while.
My first job was at a certain fast food company i will not mention.
I quit after a month, due to an injustice of 2 write ups the same day for something they did NOT investigate, and I did not do. It had to do with money, I am not a thief.

So ive been looking for a job to wipe my name clean,
Recent highschool graduate, 18, plans for college, no money and ALREADY a “stained” reputation. 😦

I had a job interview less than an hour ago. One of my parents met one of the main “company” guys for another fast food place at work, he was really pleased with one of my parents work that he offered to help any one who needed a job that my parent knew…ie me. He suggested i say i am related to him even though i am not, but i did. I do not like lying. And on top of that wonderful ness i am scrupulous. The interviewer even asked if i knew his sister, i said i dont really talk to that side of the family, and that he knew i was a good student… I dont know the man, but i really need experience. I also said I rode to my old work in a bus once to get there because it was far, it WAS far, but i lied about the bus part. I wanted to smack my hand. -_-

Would I need to go to confession for this?
Was this mortal?

I told my priest i have been missing communion due to fears of sacrilege, and he told me unless i hold up a convenient store then go to communion. I told him last time he told me that, i was not obedient and missed communion.
I dont want to miss it again. I like going to confession, but when i get there my “sins” are just, not really mortal i guess? And i dont want to develop a habbit of going every week, because i will wear myself out, There is nothing wrong with going weekly ofcourse, but for me i would like to go only when absolutely necessary, i cant drive and the parish with confessions is about a 20 minute walk.

Should i go, again? Even if i just went this Saturday?

Thanks, and God Bless.

First I want to address the desire to “wipe your name clean”. You work in the food industry. Managers rarely check your references and generally don’t expect you to be the most upstanding individual. I say this with no disrespect. My fiance and I had a combined 20 or so years of experience in that field…him starting as a young teenager and me not long after (we’ve since moved on). So don’t sweat it. I’ve never been fired but have been written up at various jobs, he has been fired twice and friends have countless times. They always find something. Now that we are no longer in that field, we really recognize the ugly way we were treated then…basically like kids that had to be watched. We both eventually became crew leaders and trainers which led to more independence, but that takes a while at any job.

That said, lets talk about the sinfulness or not of your lie. There are a couple ways to look at it. One is that a lie to an entity isn’t a lie at all. But I don’t think your potential manager counts as an entity; he is someone you will have to work with on a regular basis and develop a kind of relationship with. I think the lie was a bad idea and was sinful…it was a direct lie about something that doesn’t fit in the “none of your business” category. I think it could lead to more lies. But mortal? I don’t know. That is between you and God. I personally would confess it.

Regardless, I hope for the best for you. Don’t worry so much and then you won’t be as tempted to lie. You are employable and I don’t believe your reputation is ruined. You are in my prayers.

Thank you.
But so far it has closed the doors to other employments so far.
One at a Target store, and one at another fast food place. I know i have to start low. 😦

I have trouble seeing mortal or venial.
I didnt want to lie, one slipped out, and the other one i had agreed to because the man told me to say i was related.

I JUST went to confession. I feel afte that i get bombarded with scruples,i only take communion ONCE and then im back to confession for doubts, i dont want to wear myself out, I love confession but i dont want to keep going for doubts.

If it just slipped out, it sounds venial to me. Be at peace, friend. Be at peace.

Seriously spent yesterday and today trying to decide if it was mortal or not. 😦

I AM working with a Priest, but it takes months for an appointment or even weeks. I can not make it to confessions today as well. 😦

Should I refrain from communion AGAIN or should I obey my Priest and go to Holy Communion because i have doubts? To me lying was a sin, but mortal…? The situation was not grave, i did not intend to hurt anyone or out of Malice. So venial?

Argg, im sorry.
