Well long story short part of what I do at my job is take phone calls for health insurance plans… …just found out we are getting a new plan out of NYC that offers family planning services… My job is only quoting benefits to providers but I would be very uncomfortable if in the rare instance I actually have to read them this benefit on the phone…Not sure what I’m looking for here but I’m not huge on my job to be begin with so this may get me to start looking elsewhere…I mostly do stuff with Medicare plans so this normally isn’t an issue

Well, should you move to a country like Nicaragua that legally bans all abortions?

By living and working and paying taxes in the USA, a country that tolerates a million abortion killings per year, aren’t you facilitating a great amount of immorality?

Despite what I just said, I do not know what the right answer is.

In a way, if you help sell insurance coverage for birth control pills, that is very similar to working in an abortion clinic and helping people schedule their abortions!

Wait! Here’s what I think you should do: Simply don’t talk about birth control coverage, even if the caller asks about. Simply say something like, “Oh, you want coverage for birth control pills? Excuse me, my phone is cutting out. I’ll have to call you back.” Then hang up. Is that wrong? Well, you are preventing sin, so I think it is justifiable. But don’t announce to your supervisor that you won’t talk about the birth control coverage. And don’t tell any co-worker what you are doing. Secrets are NEVER kept at workplaces!

And, start looking for a better job. There are no good jobs at insurance companies! I’ve worked for several. They ALL treat their customers unjustly when it comes time to paying claims!

I don’t think this is a very good idea, especially since you’re not really going to call the customer back. Then they will make complaints to your supervisor. Plus, you don’t want to be dishonest. Honestly, I think I would change jobs ASAP. In the meantime, perhaps you could transfer the customer to another worker who has no qualms about selling birth control? Or just come right out and tell you boss you cannot in good conscience sell birth control as a Catholic. This does fall under religious freedom. Depending upon whether your boss is a Christian or not, he/she may work with you on this…or you may get fired. In that case, trust in the Lord to provide for you; surely He will reward you for being obedient to Him and to His Church.

Isn’t dishonesty a sin?

I’m not going to lie so those suggestions are out…the issue may never arise but im just concerned of it does…I’m not sellIng anything I would just be telling the providers office what the benefit is…part of my job is customer seville answering questions on benefits claims etc…I wouldn’t leave my job unless I could secure another job first…I’ll have to see what happens
