Job seems like its devoid of opportunity

My job seems like the managers don’t want me to have opportunities or change. Everytime I might be eligible for a promotion or transfer, including to a new facility opening up less than half the distance from my home to my current location, I get write ups. I never get write ups except when opportunities are otherwise immediately available for me. I have a choice to make, and I am asking God for guidance. I would also like any advice anyone here has to offer.

Take a look at yourself and see what behavior needs to change.

One philosophy that works well is to see what causes your boss headaches in your area of accountability and work to lessen those for them. That type of worker generally doesn’t get written up.

Could you make an appointment with your line manager or team leader, to discuss where there might be room for improvement and agree a plan to address this?

Is there a ‘set format’ for applying for transfers or promotion at your company? Could someone from Human Resources give you some guidance? Where I work, applications are assessed using quite a rigid system and it’s really important to structure your application in a way that enabled whoever is assessing it to award points. Getting the layout of the application right and making sure you put the reasons why you are a suitable candidate and the evidence that backs your opinion up is absolutely crucial.

If you’re quite hard on yourself, you might not think some things you do are worth putting down in the application (or worry that you might look as though you are ‘blowing your own trumpet’) Have you any colleagues who could read through your next application with you?

Prayer is also essential. You have been very wounded by your family as I know from another thread that they are excluding you. This is a very deep hurt and now on top of this to have this happen at your job must be devastating. You are a child of God and God has wonderful plans for you! It is good that you came here, please be assured of my prayers and the prayers of many for joy in your life.

Prayer is indeed essential! Recovering from wounds is also essential. Often a feeling of being excluded can overflow into other areas of life. It appears this may be visably appearing in the work life. In addition to prayer, working on self esteem and resolving feeling can help people see Gods path for them. Peace be with your spirit on this quest.
