I heard him speaking about how if your life’s not so great, it’s *your fault *because that’s a sign that you don’t truly love Christ. Is this guy serious? Why do people actually follow him! He’s preaching against 1,500 years of church teaching (from the beginning of protestantism)!
wow how upsetting 😦

of course that is not true…

I really think the Catholic teaching on suffering is THE most correct one there is. of all the religions.

Yes, it’s the only one that I know of that gives suffering meaning… of course there may be some that I’m not aware of that do this too…

Speaking of TBN, whatever happened to that lady with the big, pink hair?
What DID happen to her? She was a Tammy Fay knock-off! LOL…She and her husband, the grey-haired guy with the 'stache, they’d sit in those gaudy, fancy throne chairs with purple carpet that looked all kingly LOL…My buddy and I used to turn on that channel in high school just to laugh! lol…They had wrestlers on there that would “break through cement and 2x4’s for the Lord!” LOL…I wish Irenaeus and Ignatius and Polycarp could’ve seen that! oh boy!

I think he is a lot like I was in the respect that his intentions are good, but his ‘good intentions’ seem to take precedence over proclaiming absolute truth.

I tend to believe that most Protestant Christians who really love God struggle with their doctrine (there are too many undeniable contradictions to their faith that are evident in the Bible). This does not excuse them from the error that they teach.

The whole problem with Protestantism is that it focuses more on the individual than on Christ Himself. Protestants earnestly want to ‘build up’ and ‘edify’ their flock, but they unwittingly dethrone Christ in the process and elevate individual needs above His. 😦
He never talk of God its all about the good times and love, the preachers are trying to get him out of town saying he is not of god

I watched and listen to him once. I think he is a good orator and rhetorictician. As for his message, I didn’t think it was spiritual. It sounded more to me like a CEO of a company telling his people that the more and harder they work the more money all will make. If anything, I’d rather watch and listen to Billy Grahm or his son. :tiphat:

As others have said, he appeals to people by tickling their ears 🙂 It’s as much an indictment against them as it is against him. You can’t have false teachers without foolish followers.

Osteen needs to give up religion and become a motivational speaker, because while he may be good at the latter he knows nothing about the former. His interviews with Larry King are evident enough of that.

Jan Crouch, one of the founders and husband to Paul Crouch, also a founder 🙂

She’s still there. She is quite frightening. A college bud and I nicknamed her Skeltor.

For the most part they don’t appear on the day to day shows nor the nightly Praise The Lord program with the guest host. It is during the quarterly fund raising marathon programs when the Crouch’s show up with the star pastors whose shows appear on the network. A few pastors have an independent television ministry bigger then TBN so they just buy time for their broadcast and don’t join in on the “praise-a-thons”

Because he is not Catholic, I do not bother to listen to him at all. Period. I’m not about to sit there and try and discern what’s good or bad about him. I’d rather not.

He is protestant. Catholics, IMO, should not be listening to him. He is for profit which leads me to suspect his motives on his preaching. Is he trying to sell to what the masses want? I believe so.

I don’t bother with anyone who is not Catholic.
My words exactly.

He reminds me of Jim and Tammy Faye Baaker, and other so called “preachers” who use Christ as a way and means to get money out of people so that they can live “high-on-the-hog”! :extrahappy:

Ah yes, the praise-a-thons, or the “how many heresies can we cram into a short amount of time” hour. I still remember that one praise-a-thon where Paul Crouch admitted they didn’t need to do it since all the bills were paid, but they were doing it so people might be blessed.

AKA give us your money…

Oh geez! And protestants continue to bring up that the Catholic church “sold indulgences.” What they’re doing is traficking in “blessings.”

Well, be careful, because this is only one sect of Protestantism, not the entire group. Prominent Protestant scholars such as John MacArthur have criticized them at length. In fact, MacArthur wrote an excellent book entitled Charismatic Chaos that goes into detail about the errors of supposed faith healers and telemarketers.

Gotcha. To say “Protestants” as a whole is wrong. Just certain sects, yes, you’re right. 👍

And just how else would they get money so that they can live in luxury? They are a bane
on Christianity and really give a bad name to main-line protestant denominations.
