Dear friend,
You seem to have missed the real message here.
Jn. 19: 26-27 “When Jesus saw his mother, and the disciple whom he loved standing near, he said to his mother***, “Woman, behold, your son!” *** Then he said to the disciple, ***“Behold, your mother!” ***And from that hour the disciple took her to his own home.”
Jesus DID NOT say “mother” or “Mary” but used the term for ALL WOMEN… “Women!” behold your son… this is Christ COMMANDING His Mother to become the Mother of all humanity, a position She accepts in humility and complete Obedience.
By calling John the “deciple” Christ is refurring to each of us and what He calls us to be: His deciples.
John is charged by Christ to take care of Mary, Christ Mother as she is a widow and now childless in human terms; BUT the Mother of humanity in God’s Plan for our salvation.
God Bless,
Pat
