full of large fish, a hundred and fifty-three of them;

I think the better question is, how come Jesus already had some fish cooking before Peter and the others had even brought their catch? 😃
Maybe Jesus had bigger fish to fry?🙂

Yes I think that words in Scripture are carefully chosen. I also think that we can sometimes over think things in Scripture. But that is perhaps another thread.
I love to overthink.😛
My reply was not given to discount the chosen text. Rather it was to directly answer the direct question you asked in your OP…
(Bolding mine)
My addressing of the physics was intended to provide you with the asked for “clarity” as it relates to the question you asked about how Peter managed hauling the net of large fish.
I hope that my reply was helpful on that account at least.

I thank you for your (name removed by moderator)ut and clarity.

Now I understand why it is also fair to consider that since Peter managed to haul the fish he was near land and hauling it this way is not as surprising as I thought it was. Concede this I shall. :o

But there is one more detail I would like be answered and that is, that since the net did not tear when St. Peter hauled it on to land, can it be actually also due to the fact that the size of the fish mattered and that St. John still hints that the weight was still quite great? So for one man to bring it in, STILL would be not easy actually. In other words the “weight” still matters and St. Peter’s willingness to carry out the task is infact a spiritual calling.

Any comment on this will be appreciated.

A good understanding of Scripture requires that we first understand the literal sense. The spiritual senses flow from the literal sense. We first have to understand what the words on the page actually say.

This has been the way Christians have sought to understand the Bible since the very beginning. There have been encyclicals and books written about the “Four Senses of Scripture” which stress the need to understand the literal sense first.

This! Thank you. I will certainly go through it.

Meanwhile, in post #23, I state that St. Peter’s willingness to carry out the task of bringing in the untorn net of Fish was a spiritual calling 🙂

Building off of Patrick457, the last of St. Augustine’s Tractates on John might have a relevant take to this question. If anyone remembers a recent thread regarding the immortality of St. John, you might have seen it cited there. Augustine’s chief topic is on the difference between John and Oeter according to their portrayals in John’s Gospel. Peter loved Christ more than anyone, yet John was loved the most by Christ. What do these two characteristics signify?

I have not gone through the above link yet, however, Jesus told St. Peter to follow him, while St. John’s role was not a business of his (as told my Jesus). In other words St. Peter main role in the leading the Church and strength to collecting more “Fish” in Unity.

Meanwhile, St. John was to take Mother Mary to his home. Perhaps this Love by Jesus is part and parcel of that focus (Sorry for my less than eloquence to trying to express this adequately :o).
