As Catholics we speak of Christ’s flesh being “real food”, His blood being “real drink”.
Chist says this himself:
55For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink.
We furthur believe He was speaking literally and use the fact that He let some of His diciples walk away because they found the teaching difficult:
66From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him.
67"You do not want to leave too, do you?" Jesus asked the Twelve.
I am failing to see where John 6:63 is not Christ’s explaining where He was in fact being symbolic:
63The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life.
Seems He is saying that He is refering to Spirit, not flesh when Hs is “symbolically” associating the two.
Where do I have this wrong?
