Is John Chrysostom part of the theological tradition of the Cappadocians or does he form part of another theological tradition? I was just curious as he is part of the Three Holy Hierarchs and Basil and Gregory are Cappadocians.

The Cappadocian Fathers (time frame: 330-395 A.D.) are:

St. Basil the Great, bishop of Caesarea
St. Gregory of Nyssa, bishop of Nyssa
St. Gregory of Nazianzus the Theologian, bishop of Constantinople (#37)

The Three Holy Hierarchs are:

St. Basil the Great, bishop of Caesarea
St. Gregory of Nazianzus the Theologian, bishop of Constantinople (#35)
St. John Chrysostom, bishop of Constantinople (#37)

The Capadocians St. Basil and St. Gregory of Nazianzus successfully fought Arianiam with their doctrinal definitions.

St. John Chrysostom mostly gave addresses on the bible, being an Antiochian literalist. He was of the school of Antioch and studied under Diodore of Tarsus and the pagan Libanius.
