People like Hagee are not worth losing sleep over. The best thing to do is ignore him. Heretics like him are only out for one purpose and that’s for personal gain. Assuming he’s been exposed to the Catholic faith he will meet the judgement of our Lord.
We cannot simply ignore him. The Hagee crowd is filled with defunked Catholics, and it is because of his truncated Gospel message that their souls are in danger.

We must pray for the conversion of John and the Hagee family, and his withdrawal from his ministry which is covertly being used by the Father of Lies, deceiving thousands.

We must be ready to rebuke him, if ever the chance arises. Flood the prayer-lines!

How did the prayer line go? What did they say? I just rewatched John Hagee’s teaching on the Tribulation and yes he does suggest that the CC is responsible for all the atrocies said in the OP–and he points to the picture of the Whore of Babylon and says this cup is filled the blood of the Jewish martyrs done by the “Roman church.”

A friend of mine who is a FourSquare Gospel minister sent me Chapter 7 of Hagee’s book but did not send the references; does anyone by any chance have that book? I just got it out of the mailbox and have scanned it and it is as twisted as the way Hagee uses scripture. He doesn’t mind twisting anything.

No shock on my part. John Hagee = extreme anti-female, anti-Democrat and anti-reasonable conversation as well, according to his book “Day of Deception”, which plays so fast and loose with Scriptures that it sickened me. That’s my only real experience of him; a friend lent me the book. In it he rails against any instance of men’s talking any matter over with their wives, women’s making even the most basic decisions, and any attempt to find out what anyone who claims authority is thinking raher than just obeying with no comprehension – unless the authority is a Democrat, naturally. He scared me. Later I saw what he looked like on TV for a few seconds. He looks ready to burst every blood vessel in his head and neck. His expression is smug and angry at once, stubborn and unpleasant. His bearing at that moment was bizarre, like a small boy, and his voice irritated me for the short time I heard it. I can’t remember what he said. Then I saw a glimpse of him standing beside his wife. she had the eyes of someone who no longer dared to care about anything. She carried herself like I did when I was in the depth of the darkest depression. I felt for her. It was later I learned this man has a serious following.
I am genuinely curious: What do his followers see? It can’t be what I saw.

He certainly is directly connecting up with Israel according to his website. He talks and acts like Joyce Meyers, they just get their whole families involved in their ministeries.
It is like a business to them, very sola scriptura.

Hagee has used the words of God about Isarel “I will curse those who curse you and bless those who bless you” in at least one of his books. I think it is from Chapter 22 the story of Balaam in the Book of Numbers. That is one reason Hagee is hot for Israel. The second is that he like some other Evangelicals believe that the second coming can be speeded up by Israel regaining all the land given to David and by getting the temple rebuilt. They are longing for “the rapture.”

He also has a table in one book that shows the parallels between the decrees of certain synodal meetings and councils of the Catholic Church and parts of Hitlers program for the Final Solution. As far as I could tell the decrees were as he said.

Oh I didn’t know all this. Very puzzle ing. Dessert

 😦

Which book and what chapter?

What research did you do on the claim that he made? Did you read the decrees of the councils and compare it to Hitler’s “Final Solution.”

I have chapter 7 of Jerusalem Countdown and if people believe the stuff he’s written in this then I’ve got prime real estate I’ll sell them in the bayou.

The following is a quote from Hagee’s book “Jerusalem Countdown” Chapter 7 “Years of Mistreatment”

Hagee writes:
"Three hudred years following Christ’s crucifixion in Jerusalem and the slaughter of the Jews by the Romans under the leadership of Titus and Hadrian, the Hellenistic Christians who had fled from Jerusalem and taken up residence in Transjordan were being influenced by the Greeks to blame - not Rome - but the Jewish people for the death of Christ.
How did the Gentile ad Jewish followers of Christ become separated? How did a Jewish rabbi named Jesus Christ of Nazareth and twelve disciples begin an organization that three hundred years later adoted a policy to kill the Jews? A brief and greatly oversimplified explanation is as follows.
When Jesus of Nazareth was crucified in AD 33, the New Testament church consisted of mostly Jews and some Gentile believers. They were not yet called Christians but were referred to as “God fearers.”
The first source of contention in the New Testament Church was doctrinal division as recorded in Acts 15. The Jewish believers wanted to know if the Gentiles had to be circumcised in order to be saved. James, the brother of Jesus and the pastor of the Jerusalem Church, stood and delivered a powerful message declaring that Gentiles did not need to be circumcised. Thank God for Pastor James. James stated that Gentiles must abstain from immorality and meats offered to idols.
There is no documentation given for his statements; where is he getting the conclusion that the “organization” started by Jesus and the twelve disciples “three hundred years later adopted a policy to kill Jews?” At least he is admitting (according to his later premise) that this organization started by Jesus and the disciples was the Catholic Church.

Is it okay for Catholics to just let these people keep on telling this stuff unchallenged?

He went on to show a huge image of “the harlot” (from the book of Revelation) and indicated that that was the Catholic Church -** he was advertising his tape series **in which he said that he tells about this harlot system and how to be sure you are not a part of it.
Never hear of him, is he a TV Evangelist ? he sounds like so many, in it for a living and a fast buck, rather than in it for the Love of God, while the stray sheep that follow him have the wool pulled over their eyes, nice… Alleluia praise the Lord and give me your money.

Yes, he is a TV Evangelist. He has a church that is the size of a Civic Center auditorium and has thousands in his congregation and a great following from his TV ministry.

Yes as I thought, thanks, anyway I don’t care for Bible thumpers an expression used here, I don’t know if you’ve heard that expression.

Yes, we call them that as well. I don’t care for Bible thumpers either and especially not the ones who tell blatant lies about the Catholic Church.

I am not sure what program you are referring to, but John Hagee was interviewed yesterday by NPR’s show Fresh Air, with Terri Gross. Hagee is a spell-binding preacher, but what he says in normal conversational voice is not at all convincing: with sloppy reasoning and bizarre conclusions.

Apparently he is hawking the paperback release of his book Jerusalem Countdown One of the reader reviews of this book noted that the author “compares Catholicism with Satanism and paganism”. The review by Jeffrey Coogan skewers Hagee’s book. Here is an example:

About that “Shylocks” remark - the Fathers didn’t talk about “the Mass” either - in this sense: it is

  • an English translation
  • of a Latin word
  • from a Latin phrase.
But the thing referred to, the Eucharist, receives a great deal of attention from them.
And that may be the way in which Hagee means what he is saying. 🙂

I just watched Hagee and he made the following statements

No difference between Catholics and Muslims in terms of killing Jews

Crusades were about killing Jews by Catholics

He has a point. The First Crusade was punctuated by massacres of the Rhineland Jews. Even attempts by bishops to save them were not always successful. There is not no case to answer - far from it. 😦

Hitler and The Catholic Church were one

What were Hagee’s exact words ?

Catholic Church stole money from Jews

Could he be referring to confiscations by the various Inquisitions ? Again, it would help to know what he said. There is often more than a little truth in allegations which, as stated in a particular instance, are sometimes false. Sometimes one is dealing with a complete fiction - but often one is not.

Please watch this program today, its on many different channels and should repeat tomorrow, this is classic bad history in regards to the Catholic Church.

Have you a link for it ? Thanks

I want to see this guy in a debate! He’s leading my 80 year old grandfather astray.

I was visiting him yesterday and all he could talk about was hagee and what he says about the Church.

I need to get my grandfather something to read that can debunk Hagee.

Anyone have any sugestions?

There’s a lot more, but you can start with this:

Quotes By John Hagee :
one of the best known promoters of the ‘Two Covenant’ Doctrine’

(“San Antonio fundamentalist battles anti-Semitism,” Houston Chronicle, April 30, 1988, sec. 6, pg. 1. PFO Article, “The Other Gospel Of John Hagee”)

Quote:
“I believe that every Jewish person who lives in the light of the Torah, which is the word of God, has a relationship with God and will come to redemption.”

Quote:
“I’m not trying to convert the Jewish people to the Christian faith.”

Quote:
In fact, trying to convert Jews is a waste of time. ‘The Jewish person who has his roots in Judaism is not going to convert to Christianity. There is no form of Christian evangelism that has failed so miserably as evangelizing the Jewish people. They have a faith structure. Everyone else, whether Buddhist or Baha’i, needs to believe in Jesus, he says. But not Jews. Jews already have a covenant with God that has never been replaced by Christianity."

Quote:
“The Jewish people have a relationship to God through the law of God as given through Moses. I believe that every Gentile person can only come to God through the cross of Christ. I believe that every Jewish person who lives in the light of the Torah, which is the word of God, has a relationship with God and will come to redemption. “The law of Moses is sufficient enough to bring a person into the knowledge of God until God gives him a greater revelation. And God has not.

Quote:
“The Jews were not rejecting Jesus as Messiah, it was Jesus who was refusing to be the Messiah to the Jews!”

Quote:
“There are Jewish people who have relationship with God right now according to the election of grace. (Romans 11:5) … The Jewish people are judicially blinded to the identity of Messiah… Question: If God blinded the Jewish people to the identity of Jesus as Messiah, how could He send them to hell for not seeing what he had forbidden them to see? … Inasmuch as God has blinded them to the identity of Messiah, targeting the Jewish people for mass evangelism is fruitless.”

(John Hagee letter (on Cornerstone Church letterhead) to Erwin M. de Castro of the Christian Research Institute, October 18, 1994, pg. 5, copy on file. Christian Research Institute Article on John Hagee)

His belief in the ‘prosperity gospel’ is another heresy.
Very dangerous teacher.

What Hagee and Co. don’t tell their audience is that God was speaking of Biblical Israel. Biblical Israel is not the modern-day State of Israel which was formed by secular non-religious Jews.

Then he’s truly demented.

John Hagee “The Beginning of the End”: The Assassination of Yitzhak Rabin and the Coming Antichrist (Nashville: Thomas Nelson Publishers, 1996), According to Hagee, “The shot that killed Yitzhak Rabin launched Bible prophecy onto the fast track” (p. 8). Hagee further argues: “Nuclear bombs and star wars weapons systems—(are) other irrefutable signs that we are in the terminal generation” (p. 91). Hagee agrees with most dispensationalist premillennialists that “the generation which sees the rebirth of Israel is the terminal generation” (p. 93). The rebirth of Israel occurred in 1948. A generation is usually considered to be about forty years. That would have meant that the rapture should have occurred in 1988—eight yeas before Hagee published his book.

Book Description
In Rabbi David G. Dalin’s new book, he explodes the newly resurrected, widely accepted, yet utterly bankrupt smearing of Pope Pius XII, whom Jewish survivors of the Holocaust considered a righteous gentile.

DAVID G. DALIN, an ordained Rabbi, is a Professor of History and Political Science at Ave Maria University in Naples, Florida. He is the author or co-author of several books, including The Presidents of the United States and the Jews (with Jonathan D. Sarna) and Religion and State in the American Jewish Experience. He received his B.A. from the University of California at Berkeley, his M.A. and Ph.D. from Brandeis University, and his Rabbinic Ordination from the Jewish Theological Seminary of America.

Israeli historian and diplomat Pinchas Lapide, who had been the Israeli consul in Milan and had spoken with many Italian Jewish Holocaust survivors. In his meticulously researched and comprehensive 1967 book Three Popes and the Jews, Lapide persuasively argued that Pius XII “was instrumental in saving at least 700,000, but probably as many as 860,000 Jews from certain death at Nazi hands.” Lapide’s volume reamians the definitive work by a Jewish scholar on the subject."

“And, as we will see, Hitler did have one loyal cleric within his entourage. It was not the pope. It was Hajj Amin al-Husseini, the viciously anti-Semitic grand mufti of Jerusalem, the leader of the radical Islamic fundamentalists in Palestime, the leader of the 1929 mass murders of Jews in Hebron, and the mentor of and inspiration for Yasser Arafat and many other Arab leaders. Hajj Amin al-Husseini was an open ally of Hitler, met with Hitler several times, and repeatedly called for the destruction of European Jewry. It is radical Islam–Hitler’s overt ally in World War II–not the Catholic Church, that threatens Jews today.”
