John Hagee= Extreme Anti- Catholic

Hello to all! I have been a watcher of Rev. Hagee for a couple of years. I try to catch him daily.
I also try to watch him when he is on the telethons at TBN and Daystar. He is quite anti-catholic. He either knows history and is twisting it or doesnot know history and is making it up. I opt for the former. He doesnot understand the crusades. Or the various Inqusitions.
He does view the Catholic Church (Roman Rite) as the ‘whore of Babylon’. He is deeply despensationist/ a rapture bunny someone here said.
I once thought that he and his ilk were to be either prayed for or laughed at. But now I think that they are VERY dangerous. Not necessarily to the C.C. but to the Truth and the salvation of those thousands/millions(?) that follow him and those like him: Copeland, Parsley, the Crouchs, Paula White and about any TV evangelist to be found on either TBN or Daystar. Both are over run with the Word-Fatith preachers. And that Heresy is growing.
Is it any wonder that millions that don’t know Jesus find Christanitysomewhat confused?
Also as stated earlier on this thread Hagee also believes in two ways of salvation; one for Christians/pagans and one for the Jews.
A last note Hagee is one of the protestants that believe the Catholic Church was totally lost and taken over by Constantine. This in spite of Christ’s own words regarding the Church.

They are dangerous and they are taking people out of the Catholic Church based on false information. I’ve read less than one chapter of his book, “Jerusalem Countdown” and have found several errors in the way he presents history and the Catholic Church. Like you I believe he twists it, but there are those who follow him and never question what he teaches.

One of those enamoured with him has sent me two packets of stuff trying to convince me to come out of the Catholic Church. I have PTSD and have been right down sick and having flashbacks, etc. from the way he yelled at me on the phone. He went on at a great rate about Pope Charles V in 1522 starting the inquisition and banning all LUtheran books. He gets this stuff from Hagee, Dr. David Jeremiah and Chick Publications he says and he teaches this stuff in his Nazarene Sunday School Class. I sent the stuff to his District Supt. who is aware and says, “John is a loose canon and getting worse.” but lets him continue to teach this stuff as truth. Because I’ve studied the Reformation since 1979 I know that the person he is calling Pope Charles V is not Pope but Emperor Charles V, Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire which is not the Church. There never was a Pope Charles. It was in fact Charles V’s grandparents, Ferdinand and Isabella of Spain that started the Inquisition about 50 or so years before. Charles V called the Diet of Augsburg. The history they use is so mixed up and people just listen to it and never check it out.

Dangerous is right, Bob! This is where Catholics get misunderstood and persecuted and some who just listen to this get taken out of the Catholic Church. I’ve been ill for a couple of weeks and can’t take any more nut cases.

I think he’s very anti-Catholic. Now, in mid-october, 2007, he’s pushing his new book, In Defense of Israel.

He says it contains details of how the Roman church killed Jews during the inquisition, such as, that the first crusaders in 1096 rounded up some Jewish women and children, herded them into a synogogue, and burned it down.

Then he rambled on about Martin Luther first being disposed towards the Jews, then undisposed, upon which he wrote the book Jews and Their Lies ( saw this at alibris.com today ) which he says Hitler had printed to convince a lot of Lutherans to join him in killing Jews.

Sadly, Hagee probably does have some isolated facts in his favor, but not the whole story, as previous posters have mentioned.

I’m too stupid, and I don’t know if the Crusades were all a waste of time or not. Certainly standing up to the invasion of the Muslims in the holy land can’t be all bad, can it?

Hagee was on Beck’s program on CNN headline news the other night. Beck seemed to be lapping it all up (he’s a mormon). Hagee didn’t break a sweat under all of the questioning, although he did hedge once or twice, because Beck was asking him questions about Scripture, such as whether the U.S. is mentioned in the Bible. Obliquely, he said it was, but it doesn’t get much mention in the battle of armageddon, thank God.

I try not to watch Hagee for a number of reasons. One is that I envy his speaking style, confidence, and the vigor of his voice. I just can’t talk like that, project my voice like that, etc.

Fr. John Corapi is the best I’ve seen, with his deep projecting voice. He is so educated, and he can think fast on his feet, too. He is very organized in his lectures.

I took a class on the Crusades in college, and actually, the church leaders never said that Catholics should kill Jews. Whenever Catholic crusaders did kill Jews, the church leaders would condemn the actions, and there are many speeches by Bernard of Clairveaux which tell Crusaders that they must not kill or harm Jews in any way.

The crusaders were non-partisan killers… Dont forget that they sacked Constantinople and killed thousands of Eastern Orthodox Christians… If i were a Jew back then, I’d pack my bags and head for the hills after seeing that happen.

I saw a video that showed actual footage of the pope and Hitler embracing and conversing. I am not sure which pope it was at the time though. The video also showed where Hitler was very obsessed with Catholic doctrine and practice in his younger years. I also read where the Catholic church hid Nazi war criminals in South America during the Neuinberg trials. What has really bothered me over the years though is how the Vatican remained neutral during WW2 but yet knew of the horrible genocide happening at the hands of a crazed power obsessed animal. While Jews were being starved to death in concentration camps and burned to death in horrific ovens, the Catholic church stood by and did nothing. Is this what Jesus preached and taught?
