First, show me in Scripture where the church is divine…
“The Father hath put all things under His feet, and
gave Him to be the head over all things to the Church, which it His Body, the fulness of Him that
filleth all in all” (Eph. 1:22-23, and other places).

“Now therefore ye are no more strangers
and foreigners, but fellow-citizens with the saints, and of the household of God; and are built
upon the foundation of the Apostles and Prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone;
in Whom all the building, fitly framed together, groweth unto a holy temple in the Lord; in
Whom ye also are builded for a habitation of God through the Spirit” (Eph. 2:19-22).

“That thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the Church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the Truth” (1 Tim. 3:15).

“Christ as a Son over His own house, Whose
house are we” (Heb 3:6).

Marc

During the Reformation every one was doing the “christian duty” to murder every one else.
Remember in those times religion provide the basis for legitimacy for princes and kings, so anyone who did not believe in the ruler’s favorite religion was a traitor.
Protestants were murdered in masse in France.
Catholics were murdered in masse in England and especially in Ireland. And the Plantation started.
Germany lived one of the most brutal civil wars in history with masacres and rebelions in wish Catholic massacred Protestants and viceversa.
The Spanish army behaved like barbarians in Holland, and in turn Calvinists murdered priests and nuns and oppressed catholics.
Calvin had a theocratic police state in Geneva and burned heretics on the stake. Luther have a role on peasant massacres and vomited venom on the Jews.
Christianty become so blood stained that many smart people startet to turn into atheist, deism and indiferentism, opening the way for the enligthement in the following centuries.

Eastern Christianity went through none of ths. That is why some think it is the best reflection of the Early Church.

I’m confused. The Church ( Both East and West) wrote and compiled the scriptures… How do you account for that?

Have you ever wondered why there are just four Gospels and not ten or twelve, or just one? How could a corrupt Church have been able to decide which scriptures were reflective of the faith and discared those that were not ? It doesnt make sense

The Protestant Communites has mostly suceeded in breaking Christianity into thousands of little willful . Surely by God’s mercy Protestants can be saved, but it’s a hurdle to overcome

. Every heresy the Early Church fought against is once again alive and well in Protestantis ( Arianism anyone??) If you call that sucess…
That’s it, we’ll just blame everything on the Protestants. Don’t pay any attention at all to the Spanish Inquisition or Pope Pius XII’s involvement with Hitler while declaring the Catholic church neutral while the greatest display of human genocide took place or the most horrific cover up of child sexual abuse taking place at the hands of those supposedly in Apostolically succession. We will just keep proclaiming the Catholic church the one and only real church of God and blame everything on the Protestants.

I am Eastern Orthodox. We were not involved in any of that.

If you grudge against Rome cant be overcome, then I suggest looking into Orthodoxy.

Of please, you actually buy into the lies concerning Pope Pius XII. When he fact he saved a lot of Jews. Not to mention the Church combating Communism, who Pope John Paul II took an active role in its downfall.

In my POV, Protestantism only brought forth secularism in this world, which bears no fruit at all.

I also like to add that some Protestant ministers during the Civil War used the Curse of Ham to justify owning black slaves. I also know that KKK also came out from Protestantism’s Sola Scriptura… and yes… based on their Sola Scriptura self-intepretation, they claim to be the chosen race. Ever heard of the Aryan Nation which claims to be Christian?

Protestantism is nothing more than a fracture man-made religion

Some article on Pope Pius XII.

This is the true:

On April 28, 1935, four years before the War even started, Pacelli gave a speech that aroused the attention of the world press. Speaking to an audience of 250,000 pilgrims in Lourdes, France, the future Pius XII stated that the Nazis “are in reality only miserable plagiarists who dress up old errors with new tinsel. It does not make any difference whether they flock to the banners of social revolution, whether they are guided by a false concept of the world and of life, or whether they are possessed by the superstition of a race and blood cult.”[3] It was talks like this, in addition to private remarks and numerous notes of protest that Pacelli sent to Berlin in his capacity as Vatican Secretary of State, that earned him a reputation as an enemy of the Nazi party.

The Germans were likewise displeased with the reigning pontiff, Pius XI, who showed himself to be a unrelenting opponent of the new German “ideals”—even writing an entire encyclical, Mit Brennender Sorge (1937), to condemn them. When Pius XI died in 1939, the Nazis abhorred the prospect that Pacelli might be elected his successor.

Dr. Joseph Lichten, a Polish Jew who served as a diplomat and later an official of the Jewish Anti-Defamation League of B’nai B’rith, writes: "Pacelli had obviously established his position clearly, for the Fascist governments of both Italy and Germany spoke out vigorously against the possibility of his election to succeed Pius XI in March of 1939, though the cardinal secretary of state had served as papal nuncio in Germany from 1917 to 1929. . . . The day after his election, the Berlin Morgenpost said: ‘The election of cardinal Pacelli is not accepted with favor in Germany because he was always opposed to Nazism and practically determined the policies of the Vatican under his predecessor.’ "[4]

Former Israeli diplomat and now Orthodox Jewish Rabbi Pinchas Lapide states that Pius XI "had good reason to make Pacelli the architect of his anti-Nazi policy. Of the forty-four speeches which the Nuncio Pacelli had made on German soil between 1917 and 1929, at least forty contained attacks on Nazism or condemnations of Hitler’s doctrines. . . . Pacelli, who never met the Führer, called it ‘neo-Paganism.’ "[5]

A few weeks after Pacelli was elected pope, the German Reich’s Chief Security Service issued a then-secret report on the new Pope. Rabbi Lapide provides an excerpt:

"Pacelli has already made himself prominent by his attacks on National Socialism during his tenure as Cardinal Secretary of State, a fact which earned him the hearty approval of the Democratic States during the papal elections. . . . How much Pacelli is celebrated as an ally of the Democracies is especially emphasized in the French Press."[6]

Unfortunately, joy in the election of a strong pope who would continue Pius XI’s defiance of the Nazis was darkened by the ominous political developments in Europe. War finally came on September 1, 1939, when German troops overran Poland. Two days later Britain and France declared war on Germany.

Early in 1940, Hitler made an attempt to prevent the new Pope from maintaining the anti-Nazi stance he had taken before his election. He sent his underling, Joachim von Ribbentrop, to try to dissuade Pius XII from following his predecessor’s policies. "Von Ribbentrop, granted a formal audience on March 11, 1940, went into a lengthy harangue on the invincibility of the Third Reich, the inevitability of a Nazi victory, and the futility of papal alignment with the enemies of the Führer. Pius XII heard von Ribbentrop out politely and impassively. Then he opened an enormous ledger on his desk and, in his perfect German, began to recite a catalogue of the persecutions inflicted by the Third Reich in Poland, listing the date, place, and precise details of each crime. The audience was terminated; the Pope’s position was clearly unshakable."

Martin Luther “Whoever teaches otherwise than I teach, condemns God, and must remain a child of hell.”

In 1656, the Friends of Society, also called Quakers, arrived in Boston and were greeted by quite a welcome wagon. The Puritans, the founders of the Massachusetts Bay Colony, had them whipped, jailed and hanged for breaking their strict religious codes that they enforced as laws. Yes, these were the folks who a quarter of a century before fled Europe in order to have religious freedom. Once here, however, they only wanted freedom for their own religion. The Quakers were banished from Boston and hung if they returned. Eventually an area called Pennsylvania

Quakers: Persecution in colonial Massachusetts
A law was passed at the same time, subjecting every shipmaster importing Quakers or Quaker writings to a heavy fine; adjudging all Quakers who should intrude into the colony to stripes and labor in the house of correction, and all defenders of their tenets to fine, imprisonment, or exile

1700 - In June, Massachusetts passes a law ordering all Roman Catholic priests to leave the colony within three months, upon penalty of life imprisonment or execution. New York then passes a similar law

1702 - In Maryland, the Anglican Church is established as the official church, financially supported by taxation imposed on all free men, male servants and slaves.

King Henry VIII of England, who took upon himself the role of grand royal inquisitor, took the lives of some 72,000 Catholics, many cruelly tortured an the grand total of persons killed by the Inquisition in 331 years were an estimated 3,000 to 5,000.

Queen Elizabeth I, proved herself the former’s daughter by putting to death more people in one year than the Inquisition had done in 331 years!

Perhaps the most extreme act of book-banning in history occurred on Oct. 27, 1553, in Geneva, when the brilliant theologian Michael Servetus was led to the stake, to be burned alive together with his book, the Christianismi Restitutio, the Restoration of Christianity, in which he denied the existence of the Holy Trinity and attacked the Protestant ruler of Geneva, John Calvin.

Theodore of Beza wrote: “What crime can be greater or more heinous than heresy, which sets at nought the word of God and all ecclesiastic discipline? Christian magistrates, do your duty to God [speaking in Calvin’s Geneva of 1554], who has put the sword into your hands for the honor of His majesty; strike valiantly these monsters in the guise of men.” He went on to characterize those who demanded freedom of conscience “worse than the tyranny of the pope. It is better to have a tyrant, no matter how cruel he may be, than to let everyone do as he pleases.”

Ukrainian Bogdan Chmielnicki was a Cossack Cromwell. He wore the banner of Eastern Orthodoxy in a holy war against Jews and Polish Catholics. More than 100,000 were killed in this 17th-century bloodbath, and the Ukraine was split away from Poland to become part of the Orthodox Russian empire.

. Luther and Lutherans on Zwingli and His Followers
“Heretics who had broken away . . . ministers of Satan, against whom no exercise of severity, however great, would be excessive.” (50:286)
The Lutherans proclaimed in full synod:

“The Zwinglians . . . we do not even grant to them a place in the church, far from recognizing as brethren, a set of people, whom we see agitated by the spirit of lying, and uttering blasphemies against the Son of Man.” (113;v.1:466)
The Zwinglians believed that the Eucharist was wholly symbolic (probably the majority position of Protestants today).

Hence, whoever believes the same would have had the foregoing said about them by Dr. Luther, who firmly held to Consubstantiation, i.e., the actual Body and Blood of Christ is present in the communion along with the bread and wine

“Being a lover of freedom, when the revolution came in Germany, I looked to the universities to defend it, knowing that they had always boasted of their devotion to the cause of truth; but, no, the universities immediately were silenced. Then I looked to the great editors of the newspapers whose flaming editorials in days gone by had proclaimed their love of freedom; but they, like the universities, were silenced in a few short weeks… Only the Church stood squarely across the path of Hitler’s campaign for suppressing truth. I never had any special interest in the Church before, but now I feel a great affection and admiration because the Church alone has had the courage and persistence to stand for intellectual truth and moral freedom. I am forced thus to confess that what I once despised I now praise unreservedly.” -

Albert Einstein, Time Magazine, December 23, 1940

As one who has studied the Reformation / Protestantism for nearly three decades, I can honestly tell you that there is plenty that is blameworthy in Protestantism and that Protestants are notoriously uninterested in where their doctrines come from. I left Protestantism and literally wiped my feet on the rug going out. Twelve years later I found the fullness of the gospel in the CAtholic Church.

This is pure unadulterated anti-Protestant garbage which nobody who has any kind of intelligence should even look at.

Queen Elizabeth did the work of genious by bringing together Catholics and Protestants to form a church which was a beautiful blend of both. The former queen (Bloody Mary) didn’t get her name for being the Nobel peace Prize winner. She was responsible for burning Cranmer and Latimer and one other at the stake while those in the crowd sung Three Blind Mice while they were led to their deaths blindfolded. The Catholic church has much blood on its hands.

If any of what you are saying is true, then why did the Vatican declare its neutrality in WW2??

It order to prevent the Nazi’s from invading Rome. Second, in the later part of the WWII the Nazi did just that and the Vatican was liberated by US and their Allies.

Read the article I gave you. The Rabbi in Rome was grateful for the Pope for allowing Jews to hide in monestaries and churches. There were also Catholic priests killed in the Concentration, Maximilian Kolbe, Edith Stein, is one of them.

Not true.

Elizabeth’s persecution of Roman Catholic Jesuit missionaries led to many executions at Tyburn.

In 1558, Mary died and Elizabeth became queen. Faced with a country that was reeling from religious differences, Elizabeth once again made the Church of England the official religion, although retaining some Roman Catholic traditions in the church by issuing the 39 Articles of 1563, which was designed to prevent the country from further turmoil. Her tolerance of Roman Catholicism would wane in her later years as assassination plots were uncovered that originated in at the hands of Roman Catholics that sought to reestablish a Roman Catholic queen. Pope Pius V excommunicated her in 1570 in hope of an uprising that would allow a Roman Catholic to once again restore the faith to England. During the 1580’s her tolerance ran out and sent many to their death

Queen Elizabeth I - Jews and Catholics
The Elizabethan era saw great forms of prejudice against people who did not adhere to the Protestant religion. But the prejudice against Catholics related to their faith whilst the Anti-Semitism extended to the whole of the Jewish race as well as their religion.

Queen Elizabeth I and the Jews
There were a small number Jews in Elizabethan England. Jews had long been restricted to only two occupations - money lending and as peddlars. Elizabethan Jews would have had to outwardly conform to the Christian Protestant religion. Any adherence to the Jewish religion would have been undertaken in utmost secrecy, just as with the Catholics.

she had more Catholics executed during her reign than Mary had Protestants during hers,
