I watched the entire video and read the Crux article in that order.
Honestly, I didn’t know much at all about St. John Henry Newman until his canonization….24 hours.
What struck me while watching the video was Newman’s influence on the production of Vatican II. Bishop Barron clearly supported that ‘charism’ throughout the hour documentary about St. Newman.
With reservation I observe the continued unfolding of Vatican II because I refuse to consent to mob mentality.
Application of syllogisms can’t always result in Truth. Sadly, this is the pseudo premise in which various agendas in the Church work today.
Too many homosexual priests therefore all homosexuals must be banished from priesthood.
Too many homosexual priests therefore allow married priests to offset the number of homosexual priests.
Too few priests therefore allow women deacons and priests.
Women are educated as much as seminarians therefore allow them to be priests.
Two homosexuals can love a lifetime (or something like that) therefore the Church should recognize and grant gay marriages.
I won’t even add the pseudo syllogisms that both women and men have used for contraception and abortion.
Not much good comes from mob mentality coupled with syllogisms.
Just because I have a kitchen, well stocked pantry and cooking knowledge, cooking ability, and a large family waiting to be served, believing my table offers great dining…the food I put out on the table is always tasty, healthy and safe to eat? Nope
Schism and destruction are the main effects of mob mentality in the Church.
All interesting. I will try to locate a copy of Grammar of Ascent.
I have enjoyed some of the videos Bishop Barron produces about the pivotal players…very nice window views into the lives of Saints.
