The John who wrote Revelation was the same John who wrote the Gospel and the epistles. Various comments in Revelation using John’s preferred language support this. Any differences in style are because Revelation is written with a purposefully weird style as a prophetic strategy, or because different scribes/secretaries/editors make John sound different.
The Alogian position, which didn’t believe John wrote the Gospel or Revelation or anything else, and that all this use of Logos as a title for God was newfangled and pagan. This is pretty much considered a heresy these days, but a lot of grumps like Epiphanius went for it.
People who like to refer to John the Evangelist vs. John the Presbyter. We’ll call this the “John the Revelator” position, because old-timey Gospel songs make everything better.
The problem is that it’s hard to have a valid opinion on this without being able to read Greek; but plenty of early Christians who read Greek and came from Ephesus’ neck of the woods seem to have thought that the same John wrote all the stuff released under John’s name. So there’s that.
