Another enemy of Islam, watch the video.

**The protester, also known as Omar Brooks, denies being a member of the banned al-Ghurabaa group.

He accused the minister of being an “enemy” of Islam before he was led from the building by police and stewards. **

I found it interesting he told him to “Stay out of Muslim areas” - so… What? Areas with a predominantly Islamic population should be treated differently? How about autonomy?

Autonomy in what sense? Nothing can be allowed that is against the ECHR, which is part of UK law, and which precludes much of sharia.

In other words, won’t happen.

Speaking of UK law, I note that the article referenced above states that Abu Izzadeen (AKA Omar Brooks, AKA Trevor Brooks) “denies being a member of the banned al-Ghurabaa group.”

Banned by whom? The UK government? If so, how does the government go about “banning” an organization? Does not the ECHR protect what we Americans would call “freedom of association?”

That’s a rather good question actually, it made me think 🙂

Yes, it is banned by the UK government under the most recent of our awful Terrorism Acts.

I’m not sure if this is allowable under the ECHR. Certainly some parts of previous Terrorism Acts have been found to breach it (although the situation here is confusing; the government is kinda required to re-leglislate those things that breach the ECHR, but there’s no real timescale by which they have to do it).

Article 11 protects the right of association, but with some caveats. Probably these caveats cover what the government has done. However, IANAL, and this is beyond my knowledge.
