Restoratism

was started by the Stone-Campbell Movement. It gave birth to the Millerites and the Latter_Day_Saint_movement. The Millerites were the start of the Adventist movement. A number of groups came out of the Adventist Movement and Seventh Day Adventist are one of them. There are also a number of groups that come out of the Latter-Day Saint movement.

They are both considered ‘restorationist,’ rather than ‘reformationist’ churches.

On the subject of “restorationism,” although there are many churches and religious movements that are classed as “restorationist” in popular culture, the LDS Church is unique in that it claims a genuine Restoration of the gospel by blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. None of the other churches do.

Yes, y’all claim to restore something. Some do it by removing from. Other do it by adding to. LDS do a bit of both. Either way, it is the same claim. RESTORING.

But YOU just made the statement that they were all claiming to be doing so because of direct revelation from God in a miraculous vision. They weren’t and arent, and that’s what I was correcting.

I don’t mind there being other Restorationist Christian churches out there, y’know. It’s OK. They all have the right idea, just the wrong approach, not to mention a complete lack of authority and a tendency to stumble over their own feet.

Of course, that’s true of all humans no matter what belief system they belong to. Even yours. Even mine.

…just one thing, though. the CoJCoLDS does not 'come out of" the Stone/Campbell or the Millerite movements, any more than it comes out of any other religious movement from which converts came.
