Why did Jesus choose to raise Lazarus over John the Baptist (cousin?) … Or why not both?
John had fulfilled his prophetic mission, while Lazarus fulfilled his by being raised from the dead.
Or while he was wiggling his bound self out of the ground !I can’t imagine what would have been going through Lazarus’ mind as he was being un-bandaged…
I buy that … But what was John the Baptists prophetic mission?John had fulfilled his prophetic mission, while Lazarus fulfilled his by being raised from the dead.
Jesus told us quite simply:I buy that … But what was John the Baptist’s prophetic mission?
Matthew 11:9–119 “1But what did you go out to see? aA prophet? Yes, I tell you, and one who is more than a prophet. 10 “This is the one about whom it 1is written,
‘aBehold, I send My messenger 2ahead of You,
Who will prepare Your way before You.’
11 “Truly I say to you, among those born of women there has not arisen anyone greater than John the Baptist! Yet the one who is 1least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
He would probably have been arrested but even if He hadn’t been in danger it is unreasonable to expect Our Lord to have done everything we should do…But also wondering how we incorporated visiting prisoners into our Corporal Works of Mercy, if Jesus never visited John the Baptist while he was in jail.

The human body will not move without its head, even briefly (or even with a broken neck).I recon its because Jesus couldn’t find John the Baptist’s Head. It would have been freaky of poor John was brought back to life with no head. I have seen this on the farm. When you cut off a chicken’s head he runs around aimlessly and that’s just not right.
If you say so, I honestly can’t claim to have much first hand experience with people who have had their head cut off!The human body will not move without its head, even briefly (or even with a broken neck).
Retrieving the head would be no problem for our LORD!
But what point would there have been to resuscitating JB? Like Moses, his human task was done. Having him go through the fear and grief of a conscious death, and then come back to face death all over again, would be harsh and serve no purpose, unlike the raising of Lazarus.

It’s pretty well established that after beheadings (which happened all the time in France until 1981), the bodies did not get up and walk around, or even wiggle their limbs. Like they said in Highlander: “If your head comes off your neck, it’s over.”If you say so, I honestly can’t claim to have much first hand experience with people who have had their head cut off!
However that John the Baptist fellow, how do you know that he couldn’t have had any further purpose if he were brought back to earth? He seems like the type of guy that might have had more to say to that jerk King Herod.
It is probably the most humane method to kill someone (Guillotine). Any form of normal consciousness would be over very quickly if the shock of the blow did not make it instantaneous. It was just gruesome. It’s pretty well established that after beheadings (which happened all the time in France until 1981), the bodies did not get up and walk around, or even wiggle their limbs. And if JB had been brought back, KH would just have killed him again. Remember, those raised by our LORD were given restored human bodies, not resurrectional bodies (pneumatikon soma).

We were all in jail here on this earth, prisoners to sin, and Jesus visited usI buy that … But what was John the Baptists prophetic mission?

That King Herod is not such a nice guy. I certainly wouldn’t invite him to any casserole and green jello supper at church. That’s for certain. It’s pretty well established that after beheadings (which happened all the time in France until 1981), the bodies did not get up and walk around, or even wiggle their limbs.
