I’ll bet you’re glad, for it seems highly important for you to win at all costs, even to the point of insult, by saying I’m simply wiggling. Well, here’s the scripture, which you obviously have never heard or read. Nor do you accept the witness of others who posted, nor the priest, nor the encyclopedia, nor anyone else whomsoever that is willing to open their hearts to correct you.
You remind me of Zachary, who would not accept the revelation of Angel Gabriel. In divine punishment, he was made
mute.
Note well that the Angel was sent by God to announce the birth, and even bestow a God-given name upon him. John means “grace of God.” Now you can wiggle all you please, for your obstinence, Thistle. For all intents and purposes, this conversation is ended - on a sorry note,
I might add. Here’s the scripture, which, as we know, is correctly interpreted by Holy Mother Church, who has seen fit through Her ministers to reveal the truth we have tried to convey to you.
Unless you put your fingers in the nails, or see the words in print, you will not believe! Scripture records that many teachings were not committed to writing but were orally transmitted. This seems to be one of them, for indeed St. Luke learned it from Mary herself, traditionally, as he did many other infancy narratives. You may want to pray to him if you think he made a mistake.
2 Thess. 2:15: “Therefore, brothers, stand firm and hold fast to the traditions that you were taught, either by an
oral statement or by a letter of ours.”
Luke 1:11: The angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing at the right of the altar of incense. Zechariah was troubled by what he saw, and fear came upon him. But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zechariah, because your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and
you shall name him John. And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth, for he will be great in the sight of [the] Lord. He will drink neither wine nor strong drink.
He will be filled with the holy Spirit even from his mother’s womb, and he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God. He will go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah to turn the hearts of fathers toward children and the disobedient to the understanding of the righteous, to prepare a people fit for the Lord.
Then Zechariah said to the angel, “How shall I know this? For I am an old man, and my wife is advanced in years.” And the angel said to him in reply, “I am Gabriel, who stand before God. I was sent to speak to you and to announce to you this good news. But now you will be speechless and unable to talk until the day these things take place, because you did not believe my words, which will be fulfilled at their proper time.
