you’re scaring me 😦
Those charges regarding freemasonry being the “black beast” of Revelations comes directly from the teachings of Father Gobbi 's group and his non-accepted-by-the-church internal locutions. The luciferian stuff are from out of context information written on Albert Pike’s Morals and Dogma.

Even though freemasons are no permitted to receive communion, none of that stuff is the reason for the ban.

Catholics CANNOT be Freemasons.
Obey the Church that Christ gave Authority to.

Is is permissable for a Catholic to join a collegiate fraternity with a Masonic affiliation? Specifically, I’m talking about the Acacia Fraternity.
The entire freemason philsophy is a lie, and is completely incompatible with not only Catholicism, but christianity. I’d avoid anything that has anything to do with freemasonry. Its just a bad idea.

There are a number of really good books on the subject.

If you want to join a fraternal organization, take a serious look at the Knights of Columbus…you get all the fraternal benefits without the spiritual pitfalls of freemasonry.

I think we’re all missing the point here. It isn’t about becoming a Freemason, but rather about becoming an Acacian. While the Acacians were once closely tied to the Masons, now those ties varied from working closely with lodges to being connected only very distantly.

Becoming an Acacian is different than becoming a Freemason. With that in mind, it would likely depend upon the individual chapter.

As a Fraternity man I can tell you most if not all college fraternities have some type of masonic connection. I was a mamber of Delta Tau Delta and we had permission from the local Masonic lodge to conduct our rituals in their lodge room. One of our founding fathers was a mason and incorperated masonic ritual with our Fraternity Ritual. There was nothing spooky or Devilish about our ritual we just basicaly told some moral lessons with different lights/candles. SO before anyone passes judgement, if you were in a Fraternity you had masonic connections, you may have not know it but you did. I do know the acicia fraternity is basicly the college version of the Masons.

Yikes! The wedding reception was in Harry Truman’s old lodge hall in Independence, Missouri. The walls were painted with dramatic murals that included an African man carrying a club leading white women into captivity. A member told me that they ascribe to the secret, insider knowledge that Jesus was married to Mary Magdalene. That’s gnosticism biz. It’s the right thing for the wrong reason; and the charitable ends do not justify the lies tied up in the means.

Western gnosticism, Freemasons, teach a kind of race-and-blood cult condemned by Pius XII in dismissing the NAZI’s, let alone formal papal admonitions against Freemasonry. Mini-freemasons aren’t cute or useful. Can’t put lipstick on this pig. The gnostic assault on Christianity has been unrelenting and highly profitable in print and film, like THE LAST TEMPTATION OF CHRIST and DAVINCI CODE. This is like St. John Bosco’s vision of the Barque of Peter being under assault by pirates firing cannon shells **and books! **

There is no “genetic Christianity” and Christ’s alleged blood relatives have no mandate to reign and rule. “Who is my mother and brother?” Jesus wasn’t up for genetic privilege. Those who hear and obey are mother and brother to Him, including Mother Mary who did indeed “hear and obey” to the bitter end.

You wanna do charitable work? Catholic Charities is the largest charity in America if not the world. Join in. May I note that the wearing of the red fez is from the Muslim conquest of the Christian town of Fez when they dipped their naturally gray wool hats into Christian blood.

In my opinion, the is NO DIFFERENCE between joining any group/sect with strong or loose connections to masonry, than if a person joined a masonic lodge all together. A connection, strong or week, is STILL a connection. Don’t do it brother.

Freemasonry and all of its evil branches (rosacrucians, luciferians, black sun etc. etc) are of the devil.

Blah, blah, blah Albert Pike…blah, blah blah non-church-accepted…

Beware of whom you ally yourself to.

While I wouldn’t see a huge issue with it, if you are seeking a collegiate fraternity with strong catholic roots I would see if you can find a chapter of Phi Kappa Theta. They are a historically Catholic fraternity, and in fact I wouldn’t have discovered the church if it hadn’t been for my brothers in Phi Kap and the ritual of the fraternity.

I just went through the same question about joing the free mason fraternity and i am a knight with the knights of columbus catholic fraternity but wanted to join the mason fraternity, i spoke with the mason lodge i wanted to join which they had no problem with me being a kc or catholic but when i spoke with a father in my church he said no. the problem with the church go way back a thousand years and something that happened between them! the masons do not have a problem with the catholic church but the church dose with the masons! the closets you can get among the church that i have discovered are the knights of columbus.

The short answer is no. When he was prefect for the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, the former Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger strongly discouraged this. According to Wikpedia (and I am leery about quoting this source, but it seems legitimate):

Please do not place your soul in danger. No fraternity, no matter how charitable, is worth it.
when you say this last quote are you talking about all fraternitys or just ones outside the church? what about the kc? and also what if it is not a fraternity to harm your soul but to learn new skills that shape and form your life for the better! when we talk about these fraternitys the answers usally come from sources outside the fraternity. me being a kc know it has done more good then bad if any bad. i joined to gain friendship and be a leader in the church but i also joined unknowing what it was going to be like and going off all conspericys and found that they are all exactly that!

Here is the document, again, from Wikipedia:

Here is the appropriate section from Canon Law (again, from the same source):

Again, please beware. Why not join the Knights of Columbus? Surely there is a council in your area and they would be most helpful.
i am a kc but was intrested in joining the masons which i did speak with them and was assured that they would not affect or inturupt my affiliation of the church or the knights of columbus but after meeting with them i did speak with the father of the church i am affiliated with and he said to focus on the church and not to join the masons which i am fallowing the order of my father being i am studying theology and believe in the church, but back to joing a fraternity going against the catholic church that gets back to the knights of templar time when the knights and the church had a fallin out and the knights did go against the church but now is a new time 1000 years later and the mason although do focus on templar are not to my understanding against the church but are there for the same reson as the kc to shape and sturcture your life as well as help the community the only differance is they accept all religions as long as you believe in a creator! now i am not nor would i ever go against our cannon law but am stating a known fact to me. but as i said i would never go against the vatican or cannon law thats why i am backing down from the masons and am gonna take my last step with the kcs.

You could have at least offered a single pure motive.

A properly functioning fraternity should help a student get accustomed to the college campus (and environment as a whole), assist them scholastically, provide appropriate social interaction and build social skills, and introduce the member to an alumni network that provide professional opportunities and personal friendship for years to come.
i am amember of the knights of columbus although i am not part of a lodge on the campus i am transfering to, but a lodge somewhere else the lodge i attend dose support and offer scholorships and loans to college students even though it dose have to be a catholic college it dose still motivate the students to go to these schools as well as offers a lodge on campus to which would offer exactly what you described as well as younger members than the lodge i am currantly at!

Yes; I have not renounced or resigned membership in the fraternity. Seeing as how the Acacia fraternity does not plot against the Church and they are not actually linked to the Freemasons, I don’t think I am in violation of Canon Law.
from what i know being a KC but seeked out to talk to a mason lodge recently and did so learned the masons are not against the church either but the problem gose back to templar when they went against the church! but as i stated i responses in earlier posts i decided not to go against the laws of the church!

There was a one hour program on EWTN entitled “The Lodge.” I think it was in the “Abundant Life” series.

The main speaker was a younger man who had been a Mason and had gone through all the Chairs. In his first initiation he was instructed to remove all of his clothes, down to his underwear. Including his wedding ring and his Crucifix around his neck. It went down hill from there. The program was about his journey into darkness and his finding his way back home. The Lodge is absolutely, positively, no place for a Catholic. The Shriners are just as bad, if not worse.

Maybe on the EWTN web site, you can view of purchase the Video.
these are rumors and i say rumors because i am not sure and never have been there but have contacted a lodge in the us and was assured that stuff would never happen if i did join but those rumors come from the grand lodge and lodges in england. as of the us i dont know but was assured that the stuff like hazing dose not happen in the mason fraternity because it gose against the laws of fraternitys brotherhood and friendship and were there is fear there is no love!

If a Catholic joins a masonic organization he excommunicates himself clear and simple. The Church says so and there are no ifs or buts about it. Pseudo rationalizations about something that happened long time ago and now we are in modern times is pure relativism and heretical. The fundamentals of the masonic institutes have not changed and the Church has not changes thus the differences are there still here after hundreds of years. The Knights of the Temple have nothing to do with masonic organizations, it is pure historical revisionism based of ignorance at best and on malice at worst.

I have a question. As a proud flag waving American, am I somehow subscribing to Masonic beliefs since many of the founding fathers weaving and instituted their beliefs into the foundation of America? Also, IMHO, I strongly believe there is conspiracy by the Masons to ultimalely destroy the Church from within. Not by the lowel local members, but by the hiararchy on the national and global level.

I was in a fraternity in college. I quit it for a variety of reasons (i.e., it was filled with idiotic, belligerent drunkards and rapists), but I later discovered they had never reported my leaving. Had they done so, they’d have had to explain why their Treasurer and President both quit at the same time. So I still had the membership card, and was still listed on their official roster at headquarters.

After I became a Catholic, I chopped up that card and sent it back to them with a formal letter renouncing my membership. Their sole association with Masonry was that their rituals had been designed by one and incorporated Masonic imagery (and my sponsor told me the fraternity was originally founded as a means of seducing Christians into Masonry). That was enough for me.

I can appreciate your desire to abide by the letter of canon law. But are you really content to do the absolute bare minimum that canon law requires of you? The Masons are evil. They’d persecute and kill you if they got a chance (and we know they would, because they’ve taken advantage of such chances in the past – Calles-era Mexico is what happens when Masonry takes power in a devoutly Catholic country). To Hell them and their Satanic self-worship, their hideous sacrileges, their vile indifferentism; to Hell with them, down to the last man; to Hell with even the most harmless of their rituals. I would sooner punch a Mason in the mouth than be associated with him even by three degrees of separation.
