I noticed that Lance started a topic for those who are remaining in the Catholic Church and their reasons to do so…

Here’s one for the “up-and-coming” Catholics…

Why do you pursue joining the Catholic Church?

My reasons are simple…

First and foremost, no greater truth am I beginning to realize about the Biblical theology of the Catholic Church to be complete truth.

Secondly, such reverence and order is found within Mass and the fellowship and love that is found within the membership of the Church. (I love my Protestant friends and family, but I’m amazed by the Catholic Church’s love for Christians and non-Christians alike.)

The list can go on and on… but the list would be never-ending…

What about the rest of you who are considering Catholicism or are in the process of being accepted into the Catholic Church?

Peace be with you,
~ Brian

Um, not too sure. The decision comes from inner promptings of some kind, not from the intellect. And it may or may not be related to being sober 22 years in AA with various concept of Higher Power. Would you be satisfied with a “it seems like a good idea at this time”.😦

I joined the Church last Easter Vigil. For various reasons, I never joined a formal religion. I believed in God, his Son, Jesus Christ, the ten commandments, the whole ten yards, just not formally practiced. My grandmother was a craddle Catholic and was a tremedous influence in my life. I first felt the calling when I was about ten or twelve, but was too young to act on it by myself. When I became an adult, I put it off until I knew who I would marry. Finally, when I decided I would never marry and my life was so far out of balance, the calling to so strong that I joined RCIA and never looked back nor will I ever. I’ve never considered anything other than Catholicism. My only regret is that I wasted so much time.

This is HOME! Thanks be to God. ❤️

Yes whatever it was that got you here, God calls us all in different ways. Your faith will just get stronger and stronger it’s those inner promptings, they get you every time 😃

I love the tradition of the Church, I love the wholesome feeling I get while attending Mass, I love the community…and I’d **love **the Eucharist but see my “Why I’m Not Catholic” thread for more on that. 😦

Oh, and I also feel as if I’m being led to the Church…

Oh the reverence! I remember the first time I stepped into a Catholic Church I was hit head on by the almost absolute silence. SO different from the Evangelical church I was leaving.

Why I’m joining? Research. Everything in my life boils down to research, The Catholic Church was founded by Jesus. It’s so blatant in history. (Plus, the different protestant denominations were driving me incredibly insane).

God’s been grooming me my whole life to be Catholic though, I can see that now. I’ve always loved traditions, I’ve always felt that there weren’t enough celebrations specifically for Christians and that our beliefs didn’t effect enough of our outside life. I thought that the Bible could be used to support a thousand different positions (but I also had never heard that there was a church that didn’t use the Bible for it’s authority) and I was driven insane by being told to “do God’s will”. Well, when your fifteen and trying to do God’s will with just you and the Bible, it’s very, very difficult.

So that’s why I’m joining. 😃
