I see Jon Stewart’s show is almost over. I have to admit I will not miss his show. Yes he is funny and witty, but a little too conceited for my tastes… I don’t know if he has any other projects on the drawing board.
Not sorry to see his show go off the air, but I wish him the best in future endeavors.

Anyone else want to share their thoughts?

I never cared for him. His bias blinded him to how his jokes were often based only in this bias, making assumptions that were conflated facts with opinion. At least a third of his schtick was not funny to an intelligent person, but only played to his core.

And he had such juvenile humor at times! I still remember the vagina manger that the Catholic League brought up. Stephen Colbert is much better.

I agree.

The show is not going off the air. It will have a new host - Trevor Noah (a South African Comedian).
I personally love Jon Stewart but I am looking forward to watching Trevor in this new role.

I only watched him a few times, or saw clips of his show. He seemed talented, good at highlighting hypocrisy.

But, of course he played to his core, his market. Part of the strategy of any entertainment show to be successful is to identify a target audience and figure out what will keep them tuning in. Don’t think he was ever trying to put together a balanced informative analysis of current events, his show was never intended to show both sides of any issue-- just get his target audience to laugh and tune in next time…

His show was way up there in the ratings even beating one or two Fox news anchors. He clearly had a following. Interesting that he is abandoning Obama before his last year in office is up. Obama quipped “I can’t believe you are leaving before me!” - like how dare you! Stewart definitely helped the cause of the liberals.

Anyone else remember the *horrible *Daily Show ripoff that Fox News produced?

Craig Kilborne is available to take the anchor’s chair back, I hear.

As a South African, I am well aware of my fellow countryman Trevor Noah’s brand of humour.

He will in all likelihood infuriate the same people who were angry at Stewart, possibly even more so.

Picking an unknown (here in the States at least) South African seems like an odd, or bold, or oddly bold, move.

And it just may work.
John Oliver hosted when he [Stewart] was out for six weeks and it was well received. Noah has that same dry wit, so I’m hoping he does well too.
When Stewart himself got the job, he was the odd, bold choice. I wonder if that’s why he is taking such a gamble?
