Marie5890 I should stop posting on the forums with the false recycled garbage you folks continue to spread? I have a conviction of the truth of my church. It is not going to be chipped away by these “seeds” that you believe will have a impact on me.
on the night of September 21, 1823, while praying in his room, Smith said an angel appeared telling him that God had chosen him for a special work to do. The angel revealed the existence and whereabouts of a set of golden plates which Joseph was to unearth and translate into the Book of Mormon. This activity was to lead to the establishment or restoration of the true Church of Christ on earth after an absence of some 1,500 years - so the LDS believe. (Pearl of Great Price, Joseph Smith 1968 ed. 2: 33-35, 50)

teachccd do you have a copy of the Book of Mormon and a conviction of the truth of the book? Of course not, you would be a member of my church speaking by the Holy Ghost of its truth and continue the agenda of Anti Mormons.

I love you folks who quote the Book of Mormon and use it for their purposes to prove or validate their claim that it is man made or Joseph Smith was crazy versus actually never denying the First Vision.

Would you like me to start quoting the Cathecism of the Catholic Church and using it to my advantage, particularly to show Catholicism’s lack of being the true church?
Bring it on!!!

We would welcome it.

In fact, here are a couple of links to online versions. Just in case you don’t have your own.

Most of us here who quote the BoM are former Mormons who read and studied the BoM for many years. That’s how we figured out it was fake.

I served a mission in Taiwan. I taught the misionary lessons in Mandarin Chinese. That was not easy, I can tell you. After my mission I taught Gospel Essentials, Gospel Doctrine and Elders’ Quorum, and held many other callings. I read and studied all the standard works and read dozens of LDS books written by the prophets and apostles. I was married in the temple. I know the Mormon gospel very well. I hope that someday you will, too.

Yes, I do have a copy of the Book of Mormon right here in front of me. Yes, please do quote from the Catechism of the Catholic Church. You bring up an interesting analogy one of which refutes your intended purpose…teachccd

I just read the wikipedia piece on him. Now that was interesting.

It’s funny, but you sound much like another confused person called “why me” who was Catholic sometimes and Mormon sometimes (on the same day even). He was always threatening to quote the popes to prove we were wrong, but never once did it.

I hope you will do better and really quote the catechism. 😉

RebeccaJ wants be to prove that God the Father and Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph Smith.
Well, I was not in the grove of trees nonetheless Joseph never denied the vision and Holy Ghost confirmed to me that this took place leading to me in learning the truth from my church.
Many claim the same thing. Islam, Seventh Day Adventist, David Koresh, etc, etc)
Catholicism lacks a number of characteristics resulting me to leave it.
If you believe so, but from your posts, I don’t know how you can say you know Catholicism at all.

Too bad you didn’t say to the mormon missionaries that you are Catholic and don’t need them planting their needly little seeds of doubt, which, you fell for. 🤷 More than one Catholic has seen through the deception, eventually, perhaps one day you will too.

This thread seems to have become a dying fish, flopping on the ground, gasping for breath. haha

Does anyone have anymore questions regarding the restoration of the Gospel from Jesus Christ to the prophet Joseph Smith?
From a Catholic standpoint that question would never even cross our minds.

RebeccaJ my search for the truth was necessary for a number of reasons because I did not see in Catholicism being the true church and beyond the doctrinal differences, another example was when a few Catholic bishops would move around priests who found out were abusing boys — how can this be the true church when this behavior is condoned in the church. Bishops should have defrocked the priests, not hide their criminal behavior.

What did I quote that made Joseph Smith appear crazy? And to clear the record, I am not anti Mormon. I am pro Catholic since that is the Church founded by Christ and perpetuates His incarnation in the Sacraments until He comes again. I would be pro anything that is truth. All else is false and is not worth pursuing…teachccd

Wow, I’m impressed. It only took 130 posts before the abuse scandal came up.

Things are looking better all the time.

When are you going to start quoting from the Catechism? You didn’t do so well with quoting the Vatican II documents now did ya?

You know, thecourt, you absolutely amuse me. I can’t find this kind of free entertainment on T.V. Do you really think that there are no sexual abuses in the LDS church? Would you like for me to pull up some news articles? You can take issue with the doctrines, if it is indeed what we teach and not another one of your fabricated ideas, but please don’t embarrass yourself with sinful issues that every church contends with. You really are too much…

Ah, Thecourt and why me are the same person. Or so it seems.

When all else fails, and you can’t carry a conversation any further than a testimony, go with the abuse scandal.

Just another way of getting around being on ignore by so many people.

…and the Virgin Mary in a cheese sandwich…

Time to update my ignore list… :rotfl:

I think I probably have to do the same.

I’m just going to wait a bit to see if there is any kind of coherent response. (Again, I’m not holding my breath. Asthma and all)
