When folks who are Catholic recognize their church is not the true church, have a lot to consider relative to Joseph Smith and the restoration of the gospel.

I am not here to convert — you will have to have the Holy Ghost confirm it to you for your selves. I would consider that.
Leave His Church for a church founded by a guy who probably found those shrooms in the field? Um. Not so much.

When a thread starts off with the supposition that EVEN IF there was a need to reform God appeared to Joseph Smith, you know it’s not headed anywhere NEAR points of conversion.

sigh

I think I probably have to do the same.

I’m just going to wait a bit to see if there is any kind of coherent response. (Again, I’m not holding my breath. Asthma and all)
You are going to ignore a poster who is going to quote the Catechism and show us why the Catholic Church is false? Why I can’t wait…I don’t have asthma but I do believe that I’d still pass out…😃

Upstate NY 'shrooms are known for that, you know? They also spawned SDA’s, JW’s, the Shakers, and the spiritualist church.

teachccd do you have a copy of the Book of Mormon and a conviction of the truth of the book? Of course not, you would be a member of my church speaking by the Holy Ghost of its truth and continue the agenda of Anti Mormons.

I love you folks who quote the Book of Mormon and use it for their purposes to prove or validate their claim that it is man made or Joseph Smith was crazy versus actually never denying the First Vision.

Would you like me to start quoting the Cathecism of the Catholic Church and using it to my advantage, particularly to show Catholicism’s lack of being the true church?
Yes, Please start quoting the Cathecism of the Catholic Church and put it against the BOM,It will make a good thread

RebeccaJ my search for the truth was necessary for a number of reasons because I did not see in Catholicism being the true church and beyond the doctrinal differences, another example was when a few Catholic bishops would move around priests who found out were abusing boys — how can this be the true church when this behavior is condoned in the church. Bishops should have defrocked the priests, not hide their criminal behavior.
thecourt- You know, I think it is good for you to discover the world. One thing you should realize, people are people. All parents (well most parents), no matter where they are, or what they believe, have a great love and concern for their children. All people, no matter where they are, or what they believe, sin. Some sin in very awful ways.

What are you going to do? Every time a person doesn’t live up to your ideals, leave? It is a good path to agnosticism or atheism, I’ll say that.

I hate to be the person to bust your bubble, but the Mormon church is notorious for hiding truth. That you don’t know basic mormon belief should be a big red flag for you, in this area.

Most of us here who quote the BoM are former Mormons who read and studied the BoM for many years. That’s how we figured out it was fake.

I served a mission in Taiwan. I taught the misionary lessons in Mandarin Chinese. That was not easy, I can tell you. After my mission I taught Gospel Essentials, Gospel Doctrine and Elders’ Quorum, and held many other callings. I read and studied all the standard works and read dozens of LDS books written by the prophets and apostles. I was married in the temple. I know the Mormon gospel very well. I hope that someday you will, too.
Is this statement true are is it wrong “Most of us here who quote the BoM are former Mormons who read and studied the BoM for many years. That’s how we figured out it was fake.”" Is it a fake or is it true

Your question is very confusing. Are you asking if the BoM is true or if it is true that most of us on these fora who quote the BoM are former Mormons?

I’m going to wait a bit, but you know the old saying about waiting until a certain hot place freezes over. 😃

Who read this statement is saying it is a fake

thecourt,
you never answered my question. Do you have any idea why Joseph tried to join a congregation even after his “first vision”? could you explain that?

in Christ
Steph

hi jharek. you are so right. just a little tongue and cheek to keep things from gettting harsh. kinda break the tension. lol! ive never really paid much attention to the popes " bling " im more interested in what he writes and speaks. but no, i would never even begin to compare His Holiness, who has apostolic authority, with a man in the northeast who made claims that cannot be substantiated by anyone or any study. However, although, i do not accept the Church of Latterday Saints and their teaching to be Christian. i can and do accept many Mormons to be Christians. God bless you and yours. 🙂

Marie5890 I should stop posting on the forums with the false recycled garbage you folks continue to spread? I have a conviction of the truth of my church. It is not going to be chipped away by these “seeds” that you believe will have a impact on me.
then why, praytell do you start these threads?:banghead:

Could you elaborate on what is violating the dignity of the dead?
hi mrparker. i think their issue is baptism for the dead. i do not find this offensive. also, is it now the case you also seal people with a wife for eternity? that would be wonderful. ive not had much luck in that area myself.😃 perhaps yall could do better for me.👍 God bless you and yours.

Teach CCD,
It may be that you won’t come back to this thread, since I notice that you have been frustrated with not getting answers to your questions. I hadn’t following this particular thread at all, but I suppose I’ll answer your questions here in case you do still want answers and happen back here.

First off, God bless you also. Thanks for your kindness.
(1) The King James Version of the Bible was not only NOT “maintained and translated” by the Catholic church, of course, but the primary basis for the text of the Bible as translated into the KJV was the translation of William Tyndale, whom the Catholic church claimed was an apostate from their church. He was executed because of his beliefs and his translation and publication of the Bible into English.
The adversary wants to separate us from God at any cost. One of the easiest ways to do that is to appeal to our pride. He did that to our first parents, he’s still doing it today. The tragedy is that humanity keeps falling for the same lie. We cannot become “as gods”, but we can become “like God”. We will always be creatures, but he will give us eternal life and we can spend eternity with him, if we choose.

Marie5890 I know that my church is the true church of Christ and I have no reason at all to ever waste my time with** Catholicism that I left years ago**.
So were you lying back on Valentines Day this year when you said
I am a former Mormon living in the metro Phoenix area preparing to return to Seattle area as soon as possible due to my work. I have always been a Catholic, fortunately **I am grateful for this site and outside resources available for those folks like me who wish to strengthen their faith in the church and remain active.
**
Whether it is Mormons, Jehovah’s Witnesses or whatever church trying to convert us will always work to do that, I know this is my home regarding my faith always.
So on Valentines Day 2009 you were a former Mormon who’d always been Catholic and grateful you had this site to strengthen your Catholic faith. And though Mormons and Jehovah’s Witnesses tried to convert you, you knew the Catholic faith was your home. February 2009 is not “years” ago it’s not even a year ago. Your lies are the tactics of the deceiver and show just where your “testimony” originates.
