I love you folks who quote the Book of Mormon and use it for their purposes to prove or validate their claim that it is man made or Joseph Smith was crazy versus actually never denying the First Vision.

Actually, I have repeatedly proven otherwise. The witnesses, in front of friends and family confirmed their faith in the book of mormon. This is all documented. I have referenced it repeatedly. But let me put it this way: Lets say that I knew John Paul and we did business together. But I was no fan of the catholic church. When John Paul dies, I claim that he told me that he considered the catholic church apostate. Would you believe me when he himself has claimed over and over that the catholic church was true? I don’t think that you would believe me at all. Now some anticatholics may believe me because they want to believe me. But…most people would not believe me.There you go again.
We have in the past given you plenty of evidence that individual witnesses denied their testimonies of the Book of Mormon or claimed they only saw it with their “spiritual eyes”, etc. The only people I believe were in on the con were Joseph Smith, Oliver Cowdrey, Sidney Rigdon and possibly Emma Smith. There is plenty of evidence that Oliver Cowdrey denied his testimony of the Book of Mormon as we have previously exhibited. Your denial of that evidence doesn’t change the reality.
Actually this is not true. The choice of brigham was because he was the senior apostle. But those who were listening to Brigham suddenly saw a very spiritual experience when Brigham was speaking when he was explaining why he should be head of the lds church. The congregation testified that a miracle happened. As Brigham was speaking he suddenly took upon the appearance of Joseph Smith and his voice sounded like Joseph’s. That convinced the saints in attendance that Brigham was to lead the church. This has been documented by those in attendence. Of course, they also heard from sidney ridgon before Brigham why he sidney should lead the church. But after that miracle, there was no doubt who should lead the lds church.Yes they did, that is why the first split happened after Smith was killed. Young felt as the senior apostle that the he was next in line to become the prophet. Smith son, Smith 3rd, believed he was next in line…
Hence the birth of the RLDS headed by Smith 3rd, known knowns as the Church of Christ (or something like that)

However, I can show that the witnesses never denied their testimony by some written accounts by them. Those who claim that they did can not produce first hand denials in written forms. This is terrible… thecourt has lost a great website, he/ she could have learned so much here.I have sometimes wondered if banning is the best response for this kind of poster. There were contradictions in his or her posts and he or she did lose it with that one post that got him or her reported. I have thought that mercy would be a better way to go instead of reporting him or her at first.

According to David Whitmer this is how the translation was done. Joseph would place a seer-stone into a hat, and putting his face into the hat, drew it tightly around his face to exclude the light. In the darkness a spiritual light would shine. The writing would appear on something like parchment. The English translation was given beneath the strange writing, or the Reformed Egyptian as Smith called it. (An Address to All Believers in Christ by David Whitmer)
. Martin Harris confirmed the use of the seer-stone. He said sentences would appear and were read by Joseph, and Martin would write them down. This means then that Smith never did translate the strange writing. God simply supplied the English and Joseph dictated what he saw to Harris. The Golden Plates were not used at all! No mention is made of the Urim and Thummim, the two magic stones found in the stone box along with the plates. Joseph said these had to be used to translate the plates. Smith claimed he did not use them for the first one hundred and sixteen pages of the Book of Mormon. After Harris lost these pages, Joseph simply used a seer-stone he found in a well. What happened to the Urim and Thummim? Mormon authorities believe they were taken back to the next world by an angel.

This is so very true. In my view there was no need for a “restoration”, even though some clergy were corrupt. People sin but the doctrine was always okay. No one can stop people sinning even if they are a clergymen or not.IMO there is one and only one foundational question that the LDS foundation rests.
Was there a “great apostasy”.
