Since it was a little disturbing that such a glorious prophet like Joseph Smith, that had to have the revelation of the last humanity times, was not in any point object of the Bible prophecy, he Joseph Smith himself made a translation (mormons use translation in a very large sense it is more like adding lost things by supposed revelation) where he was in. And his name, in according to his revelation, was in there since the very beginning. From Genesis.

So to respond to the people that were wondering how was possible that his name was never cited in the Bible this was Smith’s answer.
He added (by “revelation”) many things in Genesis 50 and :

33 And that seer will I bless, and they that seek to destroy him shall be confounded; for this promise I give unto you; for I will remember you from generation to generation; and his name shall be called Joseph, and it shall be after the name of his father; and he shall be like unto you; for the thing which the Lord shall bring forth by his hand shall bring my people unto salvation.

And now is name was there. Of course his father name was also Joseph so he clearly and with nodoubt received a revelation about himself not about another Joseph. His name, himself was written in the Bible since the beginning.

Is this some kind of a joke? I could not follow the reasoning from an Eastern Orthodox…But this is a free world…

Seriously -

This is just as funny as the muslim claim that mohamad is mentioned in the Bible.

Joseph Smith is a self proclaimed prophet - just like many others.

The Bible warned us about “false prophets”…

…my reasoning is that anybody can prophetize of himself with the very same strategy. Even you and me can do the same. With the same attitude you can have a “personal revelation” and put your name in the Bible. But you have to specify also the name of your father so it is clearly you…

It is like me saying I am a great prophet and doing something that can make people think a little truth of my affirmation. But then since somebody couold ask himself how come my name, if I was that important was not cited in the Bible, I say to him nothing and one day I come out I had a revelation where it is not that my name was not in the Bible but that the part that was talking of myself was lost…
Every body can do this. Every faulse prophet can prophetize about himself. Of whose importance must prophetize a faulse prophet either then on himself?

I just find incredible how some people can believe doing an act like that it is just ok.

I cannot find the verse you are citing.

Please give chapter and verse. Thanks. 🙂

Wait is this even in our Bibles?

[BIBLEDRB]Genesis 50:33[/BIBLEDRB]

Guess I should re-read Genesis. :blushing: Especially since it ends at Genesis 50:25

[BIBLEDRB]Genesis 50:24-25[/BIBLEDRB]

Yeah - there is no Genesis 50:33

Genesis 50 stops at 26

Perhaps a typo error… 🤷

Yes I found it when I typed Genesis 50:33 into a search engine it came up with the LDS version of the Bible.

Too funny and so sad at the same time.

Genesis 50:33

…but Joseph Smith " inspired translation". So you won’t find in your Bible. You have to check in… ok I can give you the link (look at 33)

lds.org/scriptures/jst/jst-gen/50?lang=eng
Yes - JS wrote his own bible but it’s not our Bible

Genesis 50 stops @ 26:

26So Joseph died at the age of a hundred and ten. And after they embalmed him, he was placed in a coffin in Egypt.

Smith: #26
26 A seer shall the Lord my God raise up, who shall be a choice seer unto the fruit of my loins.

Good night… from New York…

The Normal Bible… in the Bible were missing just about everything that was talking about Joseph Smith, so how do you think if his name was not there, since must be there for some more credibility Smith would do?
Just have a revelation about a section that was lost! and that of course was talking about him. This is very credible.😦

I can understand been fouled by extremely subtil and elegantly perverses faulse prophets, but things like that! What you want more. It just means that Joseph Smith didn’t fooled with a special ability, but he fouled just people that were for some reason absolutely willing to be fooled. I don’t have any other exlplication of that.
I can immagine my wife face if I tell her I am a prophet and she doesn’t believe me and then I say I will prove you and one day waking up and saying I can proove you since I had a revelation and in this revelation my name was in Genesis and it is not there because that part has been lost.
Of course in the Bible will be missing also everything else concerning myself (unfortunately lost). But I could have other revelation on the missing part talking about myself:thumbsup:
You would believe me? And if you don’t believe me it means that the devil has just fooled you and made you confused.😃

As you say, too funny and so sad at the same time.
May our Lord have mercy on Joseph Smith’s soul.

To the general reader:

Those who happen to read and wonder about this, might as well understand that Joseph Smith received the revealed prophecy that had been given to Joseph of old, the son of Jacob (Israel) and great-grandson of Abraham, through what he translated from the ancient record that became the basis of the Book of Mormon. One can see this in 2 Nephi 3.

Joseph of old thus had a more important role than just being sold into Egypt and ending up saving his family from starvation–he received prophetic inspiration about the future of the house of Israel and about his own posterity, through his sons Ephraim and Manasseh.👍

Those studying this topic in depth would want to study Ezekiel 37 also, as well as Genesis 49:10, 22 and 26.

I am so glad you pointed this out! I hope some reader will study what are you proposing.
You should also suggest what the average reader should find in these scriptures you are proposing if not would be very hard to understand for him expecially if he had not a mormon formation.

Good night… from New York…
In the DR bible it stops at 25. I’m only mentioning that for visitors. It’s just like the 23rd psalm is not 23 in the DR it is psalm 22.

[BIBLEDRB]psalm 22[/BIBLEDRB]

I think I barely understood it…Pretty crazy, no? … Thanks…

Some people here are really brilliant at crafting brilliant rebuttals to arguments that no one ever made. Y’all should quit your day job. Really. There’s a career in this. And if these people ever come to Vegas, they will feel right at home with all the other lost souls arguing vehemently with the voices in their head as they cross the street. 😛

I learn it from Joseph Smith!
Thank you for your proposing, I feel neverthelss a sarcasm directly oriented toward me.
I think it is not very nice of you but for me it is ok.
You accepted Joseph Smith saying watever and you put your faith in him, ok, but leave other people say what you think is brilliant rebuttals when they are not asking to have faith in them. Or you just want to have the exclusivity of it?
I understand could be preatty tough for a mormon being exposed to a nacked reality wihout a mormon putting nice dress and make up on.
But I am not a mormon and I still find difficult to understand how you don’t understand the only thing some of us should do, as non mormons and feeling the danger of mormon teaching , is to expose this since many people could be misleaded by mormon teaching.

In a selling bussiness I prefer buying a good thing from a bad person then a bad thing from a good person.
I think, since most of the people have some difficulty in making this anylogy, I say that for me mormon are good people (in the human sense) selling a bad product.
Of course, if you still didn’t understand my personality since you don’t know me, I deeply believe they are not conscious in doing it if not they would stop immediately.
As far as coming to vegas… I have been there and I don’t like it at all.
And when you say: *they will feel right at home with all the other lost souls arguing vehemently with the voices in their head as they cross the street. * I really feel that you give a perfect picture of Joseph Smith. And it is true he had a good career. Of course in a human way of seeing it.

I would like to point out the danger of accepting something to be the truth with your emotional being.
If somebody attack in a debate your truths since they are confused with your emotional state, you feel personally attacked, since your emotions are the only truth you have and you feel you are what you feel.
This is what happen to mormons in any debate. They don’t feel just theological attacked or intellectually or psycologically, but also emotionally. So it get immediately personal.

It is not true what I am stating here about Joseph Smith Bible “translation”?

And do you really think for a non mormon such attitude of “adding lost part by supposed revelation” could be acceptable?

In the darkness there is no difference between a blind man and another capable of seeing. But when light comes the one that can see will see.
(is not from myself that come this sentence but I cannot remember from where I red it so so excuse myself if I cannot make the citation)

Okay, I read the scriptures mentioned and Ezekiel 37 sounds a lot like a prophesy of Jesus’ coming to die, descend into hell, rise from the dead and save His people from sin. Only a brief mention of Joseph and it sounded like a metaphor anyways. As for Genesis, am I to expect a prophet for each of Abrahams sons to receive a favorable blessing?

mwok,

I’m glad you enjoyed reading Ezekiel 37 and Genesis 49:10, 22 and 26.

One who lives another fifty years or so may be among those fortunate to see the fulfillment of Ezekiel 37:22 and 24, since Ezekiel 37 has already partially been fulfilled.

The descendants of Joseph and of Ephraim had a particular blessing pronounced upon them, and it would seem evident that God had a particular purpose for having those prophecies given, but it would also seem that one needs to want to know what is happening to the house of Israel in the last days in order to yearn for understanding about the fulfillment of those very deep and meaningful prophecies by Ezekiel and Jacob (Israel).

Peace to you and all readers.🙂
