So Joseph is the lineage of David. Jesus is his son but not by blood…so why do I find this confusing?

I guess the Ben Hur movie tripped me up last week. I don’t know.

How do Catholics view all that?

Thanks!

Mary was also from the lineage of David but the father, Joseph, is the one recorded. God does know what He’s doing, Trust Him. God Bless, Memaw

My understanding is that Joseph is Jesus’ “legal” father under Jewish law and therefore in the line of David.

True, but Mary is also from the line of David which is what God meant. Jesus got His Blood from His Mother! God’s Law surpasses Jewish law! And ALL other law. God Bless, Memaw

Christ is of the lineage of David physically through Mary, and legally through Joseph.
