I admit it, I watch & listen to these three all the time!

I am Catholic & wonder if its ok to listen to evanglical protestants?
I see no harm in this.
As has been noted…one must be strong in their faith and understanding of Church teaching as to not be swayed by contrary beliefs.

Otherwise…wherever you can get spiritual guidance, advice, motivation, etc., if it helps you get closer to the Lord, is definitely a good thing.

Again, as has been said…I do recommend Catholic material as well.
Ever hear of Fr. Larry Richards? Wonderful priest! Check out his website:

Praying to Mary, praying to saints, confessing sins to a priest, infant baptism, graven images (statues) in the churches and bowing down before them, and praying is unbiblical. Jesus is the only hot topic there should be. Where in the bible does it say to pray to mary, confess sins to a priest, and purgatory? The Bible also says that we as believers in Jesus are all saints (Corinthians 1:2) The infant baptism thing is totally unbiblical and unnecessary. If you look in the Bible no babies were baptized. You are supposed to be baptized fully emerged in water. Not sprinkles or dipping the head in. What is the point of baptizing an infant? They are not concious of sin yet.
Once again you’re just giving me your opinions on what you **think **the Catholic Church is. I’d suggest you research it seriously right here on CA. All the answers to your questions are right here.

Also you did not answer my question in a previous post on where I can find book, chapter & verse to your statement that the bible is all we need to rely on, and not the church?

I sincerely hope you do learn something here & not to just come here, spout what you think, then take off as many others have done in the past.

God Bless. :gopray2:

Joyce Meyer is deeeeeep into prosperity theology.

She does not lead people towards Christ and His One Holy Church.

SHe leads people to Ordained Materialism

I would suggest going to threads concerning these areas and finding out what Catholics truly believe. Remember that Catholic’s defined the Bible and is the religion started by Christ. This is historically proven. Please look at the posts and view for yourself. Post any questions you have and a Catholic will be able to explain the detail, provide verses and examples in the Bible. I am former Protestant that was taught many things that are not true about the Catholic faith. In fact many things that Protestants proclaim that are in Bible are not.

I used to attend Calvary Chapel for many years and I am very familar with Greg Laurie. Actually, Calvary Chapel pastors are made up of many ex-Roman Catholics. I think Billy Graham gets along well with the previous Pope. I think listening to Greg Laurie and Billy Graham is a great blessing from God, if you have spiritual ears to hear what they have to say.

If you really want to listen to something inspirational watch ewtn at least you will be hearing from a catholic perspective you dont even have to have cable you can get it on your computer that is what I do I especially like Father Thomas Dubay who gives short talks called timely topics which have to do with everyday spiritual and secular life

I dont know abpout Joyce Meyer and I have only seen Greg Laurie a couple of time but I have heard nothing but respect fromBilly graham reguardingchristians of other
denominations and he has referred to all the popes in his life time as his brothers in Christ

There’s a certain amount of truth in what these evangelists say. I wouldn’t call Joyce Meyer a “false” teacher, but she is obviously Protestant in her thinking.

The point is that if you are going to listen to these preachers, then you also need to be well aware of the Church’s teaching.

One of the Catholic Church’s faults is that it’s not evangelical enough. I’ve listened to EWTN a few times (only broadcast publicaly here on a community TV channel), but it’s so dry compared to the Protestant stuff. Mind you I’m reminded of my old pastor’s comment about some American evangelists when he said “I thnk they must breathe through their ears.” Some of them go to the other extreme.

I do have a DVD of a retreat given by Bishop Fulton Sheen way back in the 70’s (with grainy 8mm film quality to boot), and it’s the only real visual stuff I’ve got or seen that I would call Catholic and evangelical or near-evangelical.

Ever had the holy Spirit urge you to do something? An urging so strong at a precise time of day 3 days in a row. Turn on a certain Tv channel NOW!

Such an urge that i had to answer “OKAY!” out loud and do it.

As a lapsed catholic, floundering around into nostrodomus and all kinds of stuff, but looking still for God, He led me to a very unlikely evangelical pastor. At that precise time and TV channel. How i craved for that enthusiasim that he had for the Lord.

To make a long story short, it has led me back into the fold of my catholic church and am secure in my faith in Jesus Christ.

I still love listening to some of these pastors and teachers of the Word, for they devote much time to word study and jewish customs which makes the Scriptures come alive for me. Listen with discernment.

By the way, my priest has had no objections.

I went back to my" untaught" roots so to speak due to Joyce Meyer. She has quoted Henery Newin(sp?), a catholic priest many times. Thanks to her, I went back even further, before the Catholic church broke off with the Orthodox… Every baby step in learning about the faith is good. You get your baby steps when you need them.:)👍

And I always have been at churches who recognize that the Catholics and the Orthodox are Christians, including a baptist church I attended for a number of years.

Check out the book, “Cathlosism for Dummies” at your local library, does a very good short concise, understandable explaination of what the Catholic Church actually believes, without eyes glazing over trying to read the catacism.
