I admit it, I watch & listen to these three all the time!

I am Catholic & wonder if its ok to listen to evanglical protestants?

So I was right. She is Catholic and is looking for the Catholic Answer to her question.

I wouldn’t reccomend that anybody listen to Joyce Meyer. She’s a false teacher.

Greg Laurie is right on, doctrinally, but I’m not a big fan of his preaching style. Of course, that’s just a matter of personal taste.

Billy Graham is OK. His Gospel is too short on repentence and he’s been known to turn new converts over to a local Roman Catholic church, so that’s a little troubling, too.

Adrian Rogers, Todd Friel, and Paul Washer are also very good.

hi mikemck, can you tell me why ms meyer is false? its just that i listen regularly to her and am a bit anxious at your comment?

i’d be grateful for more info from you as to why you feel this way for my own peace of mind.

Yes. In the very first thread I post in, before I can even say anything about anything, you guys call me “illiterate” and “an embecile”, yes, I do take exception to that.

First of all, I never “slammed” anybody. That was one of your people who put words in my mouth who made it look as though I was “slamming”.

All I said is that I disagree with Billy Graham’s practice of sending new Christians to the Roman Catholic church, just as you would disagree with a Roman Catholic evangelist who sent new converts to a Baptist church.

Perhaps there should be a disclaimer on threads like this: “NO OPEN AND HONEST DISCUSSION, JUST THE ANSWERS WE WANT TO HEAR”.

Billy Graham only sends “new Christians” to the Roman Catholic Church if they ARE Roman Catholic. Technically, they aren’t new Christians though, since they are Christian at their baptism. What’s wrong with sending them back where they belong?

I never thought of Billy Graham as Baptist - (is he?) I only thought of him as Christian so I’m not suprised that he sends everyone back to their own churches.

No. I’ve never said nor implied that Roman Catholics aren’t Christians.

In fact, I even stated outright that I was not saying that Roman Catholics are not Christians.

The only problem is that

1. This is a Catholic forum so to say that to us is offensive.

And, according to the Bible, for you to bear false witness about what I’ve said is offensive to God.

If the OP only wanted Roman Catholics to answer, then she would have specified that only Roman Catholics are welcome. (You know, like a Mass)

Please know that you welcome at mass! Please come. I started going to mass about 3 years ago while I was still a member of an Evangelical Church. I wasn’t Catholic yet - so of course I couldn’t receive communion - but I could still go - just like you can go.

Please tell the mods of your problem. I have been on and off this forum for about a year now and have seen Catholics reprimanded for insulting others. We have a wide range of religious beliefs represented on this forum, including atheists, and for the most part the debate is polite. I do implore you to inform the moderators of what occurred on another thread.

In their radio archives there are a lot of programs of non-Catholic question shows, and a lot of the things that the Roman Catholic Church teaches which some Prostestants object to have been addressed. You might find it very informative.
I am all for you writing what ever you believe in these forums, you seemed to try to be polite as possible, these fourms are here to share and expand our understanding and love of God. And I see that is what you are trying to do, Sharing what you believe to be true.

Some of her practical advice and stories are quite good for those who are struggling with similar issues. I do wonder, however, what she’d think if I thanked her for bringing me fully back to my Catholic faith

And no, never gave a cent to her or spent a penny on any of the merchandise she peddles.

No. Just as many of you do not believe in listening to non-Roman Catholic radio shows, so we don’t allow Roman Catholic radio or TV shows into our house.

I didn’t hear anything but the same canned answers I heard in my own experience in Roman Catholic church.

What someone says as a part of a prepared statement and what is taught or believed in practice are often two different things.

I am all for you writing what ever you believe in these forums, you seemed to try to be polite as possible, these fourms are here to share and expand our understanding and love of God. And I see that is what you are trying to do, Sharing what you believe to be true.

I have read this criticism of Billy Graham before. Apparently, some Protestants are offended that Graham believes that Catholics are Christians. I suppose from your post, Mike that you are one of those who feel Catholics need to be "Christianized?"

I watched Billy Graham on an interview show regarding the death of Pope John Paul 11 and I was surprised when he was asked a question regarding heaven and he answered " I do not know if I will be there but I feel certain that Pope John Paul will be there ". That was an incrediable nice thing to say regarding the Pope and he showed tremendous respect for the Pope throughout the entire interview.

Just a friendly notice… it is against the rules to discuss the decisions of the moderators in the open forums (reference: Discussion Forum Rules, enforement rule #3). If you believe you’ve been mistreated here, then report the offenders to the mods, rather than complaining about it to everyone but the people who can do something about it.

I certainly hope nobody else calls you such names, and I hope you have a more pleasant stay here in the future.
