JPII on the dignity of women

Since my short time here I’ve seen so many thread and posts about women being in bad situations as far as relationships or marriages are concerned, and even some cases of spousal abuse. Therefore I wanted to post two texcts that I recently cam across, by John Paul II.

These texts are a powerful embrance of all women and womanhood in general, and are meant to show both women and men the great dignity and honor of the female sex. If you are a woman that for some reason has doubts about her own value and therefore allow yourself to be mistreated, I want to sincerely recommend these two links to you.

These texts by John Paul II are also useful to refute the anti-catholic claims of the Church not treating/seeing women with equal respect as men.

A great post. I wonder? In view of the attacks of Modern Day Secular/ Atheist Feminism on Holy Mother Chruch (abortion, women Priests, etc.) and the upon the Male species, is there a *similar *article on the nobility of Men?

To present men’s issues too does not equate to woman hatred!

If you actually read my post above you will indeed see that I referred to the Original thread post as great.

Here is yet another distinction for you. There is a vast difference between radical Feminists and actual Women. Compare ‘Women of Grace’ to the ‘NOW’ crowd that advocates for Abortion :bigyikes: and just maybe you might begin to comprehend.

I just do not understand why it is sooooo difficult for some… Good grief Charlie Brown…

No, its not the Church but some who have misunderstood, were/are misguided and some Catholics who insist that women are less than men.

Thank you for this. I have read what Blessed JPII too has written to and about women and have recommended them to others on CAF. Unfortunately and sadly, some Catholics confirm what is said about the treatment of women by the Church by how they themselves treat and talk about women being less.

I am for both the nobility of both men and women. No human being should be treated as lesser than the image of God Himself. This is a responsibility I take upon myself to treat anyone regardless of age, race, sex, or ethnic and social background with respect. I am not perfect though and sometimes I slip, especially when I am impatient and or fearful.

Thank you, personally I am not aware of such an article specifically on men, but I am no expert and there might very well be one or more texts like that.

Men are, however of course equally a topic in various encyclicas, speeches etc. dealing with issues like the family, human sexuality, the dignity of the body in general and others as women (and also mentioned in the ones I posted). Obviously, most matters of the Faith concern both sexes equally anyways.

I don’t see a problem to give women this special attention as Pope John Paul II did, actually I find it very much appropriate considering their mistreatment in our male-dominated past (and to a degree, present). At is also an excellent response to modern-day feminism that you mentioned (which seeks to cause division and war between the sexes instead of unity and peace).

I did not intend to start a fight with my thread, but, on a general note I would like to make the point that it is a christian virtue to be concerned with the well-being of the other, more than with that of oneself. I think we could extend this to the other sex, also. So as a man I see it more of my duty to be particularly concerned with the well-being of women (mostly on a personal, but also a political level). But I can’t and don’t want to make a dogma out of this, it is just a personal attitude of mine.

However, when things cross the line - as groups like NOW does, obviously, then it simply can not be ignored. It demands to be challenged in the interest of Social Justice for all.
