The Catholic Church is supposed
to be the fulfillment of Judaism.

But the two are virtualy opposite.
Almost EVERYTHING a Catholic dose is completely condemned
by Judaism. However it is fact that
God dose not change.

Yet Judaism and Catholic practice
don’t mix. If you are Catholic your
prayers in Christ name are not valid. Eucharist is completely condemned, praying to mary and
anyone else condemned. Cross and statues of Christ condemned.

Acording to what I see from Jew’s
they do NOT believe we worship the same God, they think we are
completely in false worship.

The Catholic practice of baptising
pagan ritual looks completely foreign to the nation of Isreal in scripture. And foreign to Judaism
in that as old as Judaism is…I don’t see ANY pagan practices that
were adopted into there religion.

Judaism looks COMPLETELY OPPOSED to the Catholic Church.

We know God dose not Change.
So what explains why Judaism
is completely opposed to the Catholic Church?

The Catholic Church is Christ centered.Judaism is completely opposed to Christ. Have you spoken to a Jew about the matter?
They have a very interesting view
point…That they are the chosen people and we are complete heratics.

On the whole, I don’t think most of us really care about what Christians believe.

Im not sure you understand me.
From a Catholic prospective ofcourse Judaism is compatible.
But that is not saying much, because we can baptise pagan
practice…so ofcourse we accept
the people that most the OT is all
about.

I mean from the prospective of Judaism and the Jews. They canot
accept the idea of God having a Son.They can’t accept virtualy any
Catholic teaching.

Its like two neighbors.
You go to the first and he say’s his
neighbor is a great guy and he supports him anytime he can.

You go to the second and he say’s
he dosent know what his neighbor
is talking about! He say’s that he opposes ALL his neighbors ideas.
And that he is a pagan.

Well that’s what I am getting from
Catholics and Jew’s.

Catholics think everything is ok.
Jew’s don’t know what we are talking about, they completely oppose Christ.

What’s wrong with this picture?

You have answered your own question. I’m sure that from the Jewish point of view Christianity is completely opposed to Judaism. In addition, the actions done by Christians to Jews in the past would not make them respond well to the name of Jesus or Christ or the term Christian.

Again with the Cute and Fuzzy Bunny…

On the whole, I think you are right and irrelavant. We have the greatest Jew of all on our side 🙂

I am sure the first century apostolic Church would disagree with you; For these first Sacramental Christians where persecuted by both Jews and Romans;

Do you have a Catholic understanding of the New Testament especially the book of Revelations? Because in these you will find all the Law and Prophets being fulfilled in the Catholic church. Questions?

I am sure the first century apostolic Church would disagree with you; For these first Sacramental Christians where persecuted by both Jews and Romans;
I was talking about modern day Jews who have a long history of persecution by those calling themselves Christians. Some of those Christians called Jews ‘Christ killers’ even though we know that Jesus died for our sins. We also know that Jesus and all the first Christians were Jewish so we really had no good reason to persecute the Jews, especially as we are the ones who were told to love our enemies!

I understand where you are coming from: but, You do what most protestants and non catholics do to history; Blame; humanity’s atrocities on the Body of Jesus Christ, which is the Catholic Church. Which is both fully human which can fall into temptation and fully divine. I realize you may not be addressing this aspect of the New Testament teaching that the body of Jesus Christ is the (Catholic) Church. The first 300 years of Jewish and Pagan Roman persecution of our Catholic Christian Saints and Martyrs recorded from history is what the Catholic faith is built upon next to Jesus being crucified.

When you state “We” persecuted the Jews, maybe a specific instance need be addressed. Speaking in generalities of such a topic, leads one to confuse what is the Catholic Church which is pure spotless, without wrinkle and Holy compared to her members who may of acted from their humanity, and not in the name of the Catholic Church.

Kaninchen. There are billions of Christians and non-Jews in this world. What role if any do you see as all these souls playing for God and in any divine plan, if any. From the Jewish perspective, do you merely believe: “well, all they have to do is follow the 7 Noahide Laws and nothing else; and leave us alone.” You probably don’t ask yourself this question (maybe you do) but do you really believe that all these billions of non-Jewish souls were put here on earth to just go through the motions with no divine responsibilities whatsoever except the Noahide laws. Do you believe that the only proper role for God on Earth is strictly or perhaps mostly his relationship with the Light of the World, the Israelites, and God’s relationship with the rest of the nations is not of much importance in comparison to God’s overriding concern with the Jewish people?

I ask this strictly out of curiousity because you helped me out on another thread on the Jewish origins of Christianity and I argued that Catholics are not actively encouraged to proselytize amongst the Jewish people in that thread according to the Pope (especially JP2).

I’m asking in all sincerity, do you believe all non-Jews on this planet are not of any cosmic importance to God whatsoever (apart from obeying Noah’s 7 laws) and that most Jews could not care less. Is that what you are saying, because I have always been puzzled how Jews view God’s and the Jews’ relationship with the Gentiles in religious terms: Total Indifference?

God Bless! I’m asking because you were quite sincere in your answers on our other thread with me. 🙂

We don’t have the same kind of ‘great scheme of things’ view that Christians have, no great cosmical struggle between good and evil over the eternal destination of the individual, Judaism is a very ‘here’ ‘now’ religion. Meanwhile, whatever arrangements God wishes to make with non-Jews are really the business of God - we don’t believe non-Jews are disadvantaged in any way and they have the same hope for the ‘World to Come’ (you don’t get Israel, of course, but that’s not so big a deal, nothing for anybody to panic about exactly).

Christians tell themselves that they need to worry about eternal damnation for not believing in some precise way or not following some Church/sect/group rubrics, that’s a Christian problem, part of the way the religion ‘works’. It’s not a Jewish problem - a Catholic or a Protestant has the same hope of the ‘World to Come’ as any Jew.

There is no reason to suppose that God favors Jews more than non-Jews.

What exactly dose your G-d think
is a righteous way of life for a
non Jew?

Would he hear the prayers of Catholics when we use Jesus name at the end of the prayer?
Or a rosary?

Is it realy ok, for non Jew’s not to
convert to Judaism in your view?

So says the lady with almost 3,600 posts on a catholic forum. 😉

Everything in catholicism has its roots in Judaism. But few plants look much like their roots. When Jesus came, he didn’t just come to be the next great Jewish leader, he came to be the fullfillment of Judaism, the completion of the old covenant and the turning point in the development of humanity from a fallen people among whom lived the chosen people to a fallen people in whom ALL are called to salvation and redemption.

The first christians were all Jews. In the first century, Judaism went through a great divorce of sorts between those that embraced Jesus as Messiah and those that didn’t. Those that did became known as christians (making up what became known as the catholic church). Those that didn’t, kept the Jewish identity. Judaism has always been tightly knit and focused on preserving its unique identity. That was crucial to the OT covenant. The new covenant is universal with humanity and it is no longer appropriate to force all cultures to adopt uniquely Jewish practices and rituals.

But most of our practices have those ROOTS in Judaism. Christ as the Passover Lamb whose flesh we eat and whose blood marks us as saved from the angel of death, Mary as the “queen mother” of Christ similar to the queen mother role played in Judaism’s kingly period, etc. Another poster gave some god links for further information.

Some great reading on the subject is Dr. Scott Hahn’s work on covenant theology.

What do you mean by “You don’t get Israel, of course” in the World-to-Come?
Also, if you followed Ben Masada’s threads, and according to his profile he is a Jew (unless of course he’d just make us believe he is one!), he contends that only “unlearnt” Jews would believe in an afterlife or in a resurrection of the dead… what would you answer him on that. I tried to come up with examples, but he turned them down. I wish I would have come out with solid and more accurate examples…

I don’t believe they are against everything the Catholic Church teaches, only against things where the Catholic Church differs from what Judaism teaches…
I still believe that the Jews who would care to study Christianity would not be against the teachings common to both Judaism and Christianity.
